Here is a complete listing of the garden mums I will have available in 24" for $15, Hanging Baskets $22.50 order in advance only, and 36" bushel basket mums $25. All these mums are netted to prevent splitting open, nothing is more disappointing than a newly purchased mum that splits open, the netting is not visible, it was installed several weeks back and allows the plant to grow thru it for structural strength. I will also have a few hundred tricolor mums that will be blooming in Mid October. All the garden mums, hardy zone 6 to 9, so NOT perennial are getting fertilized 6 days a week and one clear flush day. Once color starts cracking (showing) I stop fertilizing completely because fertilizing after a mum cracks hastens (shortens) the length of time that the bloom lasts. Click on each picture to see the name of the variety and the bloom date. Yes, we know when a mum will bloom because they are day length sensitive, meaning their bloom schedule is directly related to the length of day light hours. Usually the mums are at the crack stage (color showing) on the bloom date, fully open 7 days later. So if you are trying to plan around a wedding or party you can use the bloom date fairly reliably. No need to rush to get your garden mums, they are on drip irrigation and getting the feed they need to bloom, hungry little guys. You can pick them out now and tag, or pick them up. Do know that you need to water a potted mum every single day, until the weather starts to cool, In fact the last few high 90 degree days I watered them for an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon.

If you are interested in a mum in a hanging basket I will be glad to take any of the 14 colors of garden mums that I have and put them in a basket for you. The cost will be $22.50. It takes me 15 minutes to plant these so please call or message an order in advance so I can have them ready. Most of my garden mums won't bloom until late September, but the sooner I get them transplanted into a basket the better they will perform. I can transplant them now and put them back on drip irrigation until they are ready to be picked up. I am currently fertilizing the garden mums 6 days a week for the most vivid color and larger bloom. The best time for you to pick up a garden mum is at the crack stage, when it is just beginning to show color, mine are still a good 2 weeks out for the garden mums. Also, all my mums are always netted to keep them from splitting open. All hanging basket mums will be single color, my tri color mums are going to be 3 or 4 feet in diameter at the rate they are growing. Hanging basket is white, not dark as pictured.

I am going to be open from 9 to noon every day Monday thru Friday of this week August 24 thru August 28. Now is the perfect time to plant perennial mums. I have 6 varieties, Igloo Yellow Quill, Mammoth Lavender Daisy, Igloo Warm, Igloo Cool, Igloo Frosty and Igloo Harvest. These are 24" mums and cost $15 each. Getting your perennial mums planted now gives them time to get established. These mums are hardy to Zones 4 to 9. The Igloo series are actually dendranthema, but they behave and look exactly like a garden mum with the exception that they bloom a little earlier. The Mammoth Lavender Daisy mum is open about 10% right now. They are tough plants, I planted 12 two years ago and have only lost one and they are in a raised bed, which makes them more susceptible to the cold. Mine are currently about 18" tall and 4 foot in diameter. These are simply great perennials. I have about 100 of them left.

I am going to be open from 9 to 5 on Saturday August 22nd. I have about 150 hardy mums, these mums are hardy zones 4 to 9. Also at this time I will announce that I am not ordering additional trees or shrubs, it is limited to the stock I have on hand. I am dealing with some health issues and simply must cut back. I prefer to focus on flowers and vegetables for next spring. Complete list of available trees and shrubs will be available next week. I will post as soon as I have an accurate inventory list. Hope to see you tomorrow, the mums are huge again this year. And yes, I will be open more days, I will announce a schedule next week. So many doctor appointments, can't get anything done.
