After nearly eight years away from speaking and facilitating in this capacity, today I stepped forward again.

Not to go backward.

Not to recreate the past.

But to build from everything the journey has taught me.

Awaken the Lion: Discovering the Leader Within was about more than leadership.

We talked about identity, accountability, resilience, purpose, family and legacy.

And the conversations reminded me why this work matters.

This was the first one.

There’s a lot to learn. A lot to build.
And we’re just getting started.

Grateful to everyone who showed up, and to Hechos 29 Round Lake for opening their doors, Orale Cafe for the coffee.

𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗺𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗱!

Standing in front of the courthouse and the county jail today felt unreal… because years ago, I stood in places like this carrying shame, anger, and poor decisions.

But today was different.

Today represented growth. Healing. Redemption.

The judge shared some incredibly encouraging words with me that I’ll never forget. Not because they erased my past — but because they recognized the man I’ve worked to become.

This moment is bigger than me.
It’s for every person who thinks their mistakes define them forever. They don’t.

Lion Tribe was built on this principle:
No matter how hard life hits you, you can rebuild yourself mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Your past may explain you… but it does not have to imprison you. 🦁

Thank you to everyone who stood beside me and supported me through this journey. This is only the beginning.

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙇𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙚𝙨𝙘𝙖𝙥𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙩𝙨.

𝙍𝙚𝙭 wasn’t born a leader.
He was shaped by bad decisions and hard consequences.

As a youth, he moved without direction—chasing survival instead of purpose.
Poor choices led him down a road that ended behind bars.

Prison stripped him of distractions, excuses, and identity.
What remained was time.
And time forced truth.
Instead of wasting it, Rex rebuilt himself.

He read when others slept.
He lifted when others complained.
Every page sharpened his mind.
Every rep hardened his body.
The iron became his discipline.
The silence became his teacher.

When Rex walked free, freedom didn’t make life easier—it made it harder.
There were closed doors.
Judgment.
Setbacks meant to break him.
He didn’t look for sympathy.
He went back to the work.
Day after day, he chose discipline over impulse.
Structure over chaos.
Responsibility over ego.

From that struggle, Lion Tribe was born.

Rex doesn’t lead from a throne.
He leads from experience.
He is proof that strength can be rebuilt.
