The FDA just announced an important DSCSA update for small independent pharmacies.

If your pharmacy has 25 or fewer full-time pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, the FDA is asking you to complete its Small Dispenser Assessment by September 22, 2026: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LMGJVYJ

A consultant can also complete the assessment on your behalf. The goal of the assessment is to help the FDA understand whether the technology required for package-level tracing is practical and accessible for smaller pharmacies.

What this means for independent pharmacies:

✅ Qualifying small dispensers have an extension on certain DSCSA requirements until November 27, 2027.
✅ More time doesn’t mean compliance efforts should pause. Use the extension to adopt solutions that already exist and make compliance seamless for your pharmacy.
