Stoked to get out with Corey and Steph, whom most of you know through SLY FOX BEER, to tick off their last section of the in PA! We couldn't have asked for better hiking weather! A chilly 39° at night made for perfect sleeping weather, day break brought sunny blue skies with the highs around 72° with a light breeze blowing through the trees just enough to keep the bugs at bay! Saw a bunch of hard chargin thru-hiker aiming for the halfway point which is just north of Pine Grove Furnace. Talked to one hiker who said Maryland was rockier than PA 🤣😂(if you're not familiar with the terrain down there, it's not insanely rocky like the northeastern part of PA that all Keystonians know is where boots go to die)...didn't have to heart to tell him of the tumultuous ridgeline he was about to literally stumble upon for the next 2 weeks, sorry my braddah it's a right of passage. The native laurels were in full bloom, the ferns carpeted the forest floor like a 70's s**g rug, the babbling of the brooks kept the time, while the sun kissed its highlights through the dense canopy, glistening off the vibrantly diverse shades of greens that would make the Pantone color wheel creators scratch their heads. The Hemlocks, the Oaks - so may Oaks, the Tulips, the Maples, the Pines, the Sassafras, the Rhodies, the Laurels, the Birch, and I swear I even saw a Chestnut! Simply put, the natural landscape of the Keystone State is absolutely astonishing!
