There's fruit baskets, and then there's exceptional fruit and flower baskets.
This past weekend I had the pleasure of making this gorgeous fruit and flower basket as a surprise for a wife for a 4th wedding anniversary.
The husband wanted an arrangement that incorporated fruit and flowers since that's the traditional 4th wedding anniversary gift. I asked if he'd like the fruit to be edible, he said "sure"! No problem 😊
Usually when you see fruit or vegetables incorporated into floral design, the fruit is skewered, thus rendering it inedible unless it's eaten right away. This was designed that the fruit will last for days.
It was big and heavy and according to my client, she absolutely loved it! So did he.
I love when clients give me free reign to do what I do.

Let's talk about self care.
I was told yesterday "You work A LOT". Indeed I do. Truth be told, it's extremely rare I get a real day off. Even in the rare occasion I get a vacation, I'm still working.
I don't have time for spa days. Despite all the make-up and hair spray, I'm pretty low maintenance.
However, these little "pucks of serenity" (my term lol) really help me to unwind, relax, breathe, and just chill. Remember when I said Saturday was going to be a great day?! Indeed it was!
Another sweet couple that I did their wedding in Albuquerque came in to say hi ❤️ I love when that happens! A wholesale house owner came in to meet me (YAY! New place to buy flowers!) Lots of customers, and the last customer of the day was a Texas Master Floral Designer. She was quite impressed with the shop and bought lots of stuff!
Days like that sure give a girl a warm and lovey feeling that you're doing something right.
Then this pic showed up in my memories. It's from a wedding in 2014. See that clear top canopy? It's super cool at night, but during the day it acts like a massive magnifying glass. Oh boy...
This wedding was for a VIP of mine that was also a wedding professional. Super stressful worrying about the flowers frying under that canopy.
I used every trick I knew. My bride was pleased to tell me the flowers lasted days and days after the wedding. And that's the difference between choosing a truly professional florist or not. Experience in all sorts of different situations. 😊 We are already booking weddings into 2027. I have a couple of dates in October, November (very limited), and December still available. Dolly was one of those rare people that was beautiful inside and out. She was one of the most influential women in my life that I never met. When I was a little girl, Dolly had a variety show, and she always started the show singing "Love is like a butterfly". I loved that song ever since. I thought she was the most beautiful woman I ever saw. I've been in love with her ever since. As I grew up, I learned how she was born into a poor family, and she built a wonderful life for herself despite it by hard work and a grateful heart. She taught me that humble beginnings don't have to define your life negatively.
I'm absolutely devastated that Dolly has passed. My sister Cheri (who you all know and love) and I were planning a trip to Dollywood last year (because we both love Dolly so much) then everything fell apart with the floods and our mother's health. She and I will take our trip one day and it will be even more special now.
I love you Dolly 🦋
Thank you for teaching me to work hard with integrity.

T'was another glorious wedding at The Inn of The Mountain Gods this past Saturday 💛
Some of the flowers used were a bit delicate, so I made the decision to get up at 2:45am and get to the shop around 5am to make all the florals. All of them, Everything! Dedication Baby!
However, I didn't get a pic of all the boutonnieres or corsages, nor me holding the bouquet. Dang it!
I do what I do for my couples because there's only one shot at this. One. One chance to get it perfect. There's no do overs with an event as important as your wedding day.
