Congrats to Cory Glover for winning CMPM at the Midwest Championships and setting a new track record on the Bonsai with a Ghost Cat!!!

Thanks to Bob and Gail and everyone else who help put on this race.

Myself, I had to leave due to illness, so didn't take part in any of the races. That was a huge bummer as my spec and cmpm cars were VERY VERY good, and I was looking forward to those races.

Congrats to all other winners as well!!!

For those waiting on orders, I'll get to them as soon as I feel a bit better....

New shoes and helper Springs are on the website! Im calling these the v3 Ghost Cat/Fusion shoe, and are extremely excited for these!!!!

The shoes are the exact same shape as the v2 shoe, but a better material. Both more durable and a better conductor.

The v2 shoe price has dropped while supplies last. Remember, they fit/work very well on a Fusion as well.

The helper springs are a thinner wire, and are not really here to add tension. Although they add a tiny bit. What they do, and do well, is hold the brush in the proper attitude against the comm. This creates much better power! They are not always needed, but when you see a lot of arcing, or the brush bouncing, you will need them. Simply add it over top of the stock brush, and place the cap over both of them.

Im heading to the Midwest Championships, so wont be able to fill orders until next week. If you're at the races, I'm bringing some with me so Bob will have access to them.

Beth is all done, and I actually had her on my track to shake her down. I don't like to put Neo or Unlimited cars on my track anymore, as they tend to pull up the rails. But, I just couldn't wait anymore!

Track record is a 1.391. I went 1.405, and wasn't completely setup as the car is still a tad high. So I'm extremely happy with how she's running!

I'm actually scared to pull the trigger on my track, as she just wants to go, and my table is only 14.5' with sweepers at both ends to shorten it even more. Cannot wait to get this car on a long track!

Got her mostly completed tonight!!! Built the shunts, installed the springs & barrels, set the motor in, deepened the guide slot, installed the guide pin, added the brushes, tweaked the shoe springs, and lightened the rear of the chassis a tad.

She's on the break-in box now, and sounds ANGRY!!!!

Front and rear ball bearing axles, and pinion are last steps, maybe tomorrow.

Anyone wanna name her? Let's see some ideas 😃

So I ran into an issue with the epoxy for the magnets. It was my first time using it, and I didnt mix it thoroughly enough. This caused it to not harden, even after waiting over 3 days. My bad, but at least I learned...

This made me decide to scrape/clean it all of and start the epoxy process again. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, because the epoxy was gummy and just peeled off like putty. Once it was all off, I cleaned the surfaces with alcohol, mixed some more epoxy, and started again. This time, it worked perfectly, and the epoxy was cured enough to work on the car this morning for a bit.

I finished sanding the top of the car, and started sanding the bottom. Here are some pics of where it is at now.

Tomorrow I hope to finish sanding the bottom with jig wheels, install the picku-up springs & brush barrels, space/install the motor, install the the shunts, and put brushes in.

Couldn't do too much today as the epoxy is not 100% cured. But I was able to clean it up a tad. Will make her more presentable once she's fully cured. I also added a little more epoxy on the underside of the chassis. Obviously can't show you that right now...

Still more work on the Unlimited build...

I got the braces over the motor magnets, and also a brace over the rear of the chassis. I then epoxied the magnets in, making sure to fill all the gaps between the braces, magnets and chassis. This will need to cure for a day or so.

Once the epoxy cures, it's time to sand the car, then put the shoe springs & barrels in, and then i can space the motor.

Be back in a couple of days with those steps.
