The Shoei RF-SR has been a go-to premium street helmet for years, and now Shoei has introduced the all-new RF-SR2. But what’s the difference between the two, and will those changes matter for the way you ride?

In this video, we compare the original Shoei RF-SR with the new RF-SR2, taking a closer look at the updates riders will notice most. The RF-SR2 keeps the familiar RF-series design while adding a more modern shell profile, improved ventilation, updated vent controls, and redesigned aerodynamics.

Ventilation is one of the biggest upgrades, with the upper intake airflow increased by 21% and lower intake airflow increased by 43%. The lower vents also feature a new half-open position for more control over airflow in different riding conditions. Larger vent controls make them easier to operate while wearing gloves, too.

The RF-SR2 also gets a redesigned rear spoiler developed in a wind tunnel, improving aerodynamic performance by approximately 82% over the original RF-SR. The goal isn't necessarily more speed, but improved stability, less buffeting, and reduced fatigue during longer rides.

We’ll also cover the comfort and convenience features, including the removable and washable interior, Shoei Personal Fitting System compatibility, built-in eyeglass channels, Bluetooth and mesh communicator compatibility, Emergency Quick Release System, updated shield and base plate system, and the included EVO Pinlock anti-fog lens.

So, is the RF-SR2 a completely different helmet? Not exactly. Shoei took a proven platform and refined the areas riders notice most. If you already own an RF-SR, there may not be a reason to replace it immediately. But if you're shopping for a new premium street helmet, the RF-SR2 brings several meaningful updates worth considering.

In this Dennis Kirk Tech Tip, Dan's Pro Shop shows you how to use a Maxima oil change kit, which includes the oils, filter and necessary gaskets in one box. He also covers a few important tips that can make the job easier, like opening the engine oil fill port before draining and knowing when to replace the Derby cover gasket or O-ring.

You’ll also see how to torque the drain plugs, Derby cover screws and transmission fill plug, how to install the new oil filter, and how to correctly check your engine oil level with the dipstick on the kickstand or with the bike upright.
