Always make sure they note it in your chart

Have you ever asked your physician for a test, procedure, second opinion, prescription, etc and been denied ?

Were you unsure of what to do?

“Please note it in my chart..”

You have the right to ask your physician to “please note it in my chart that you are denying me said service “. Now in previous experience, most physicians are not prepared for patients to be educated (especially patients of color).

Sometimes by simply asking for the denial of service to be noted, the physician will change their mind and do what you’re asking. But if for any reason they don’t, you have now created a paper trail. This paper trail can aid you in the future if anything should negatively affect you due to their neglect.

It is very important to be firm when it comes to your care, kindly of course!
