happy trans day of visibility 🏳️‍⚧️!

3 days ago, my hometown, sacramento ca, was unanimously declared a sanctuary city for trans people! 🥳

this declaration ensures that law enforcement are unable to prosecute the families of minors receiving gender-affirming care, nor their healthcare providers. 🚔🛑

hate crimes against the trans community has risen by 186% in the past 5 years. 🌧️

it is important to reflect that on a day where trans people can share their stories, celebrate their achievements and feel comfortable in their own skin, many trans people are unable to celebrate these freedoms because bigoted people strip them of their right to safety. ❤️‍🩹

our advocacy for equality needs to intersectional. 90.9% of violent death and crimes committed against trans people are trans/gender non-conforming people of color. 61.8% of those victims were black trans women. 78.8% of those victims were under the age of 35. they had an entire life to experience still. 🏳️‍🌈

continue to highlight trans advocacy, safety and voices. one person can not change the world but a collective force of kindness can change lives locally and universally. 🏳️‍⚧️✨

to the trans community—know that you are loved, valued and so important. we are happy you here. we hear you and we will continue to help create sanctuary for trans people around the world. 🩷

so it was 3a and therefore i was obviously thinking about totally spies and i remembered the identity cards they used to have! ❤️💚💛

so obviously that promoted to attempt to recreate it for my shop and this was the result! ✨

i recreated the totally spies logo to make it say totally valid and then replaced the description with a friendly reminder that using someone’s correct pronouns is a necessary part to being an ally 🏳️‍🌈🩷

not sure if i’ll turn this design into a sticker or not? lmk! i was thinking maybe i could replace the ask me with actual pronouns so it’s easier for people to know which pronouns to use for someone if they just see this sticker on their water bottle or laptop or something.

one time i said to this guy, “we should go to claires!” and he said, “for what?” so i said, “serotonin!” thinking it would be a little funny quirky joke. he in fact did not think it was funny and just thought i was really weird, so there’s that lol.

but it did spark the creation of this sticker, so it was worth the very awkward moment lol

i wanted to bring out some facts about today & black american history that most people might not know! 🖤✊🏾

💖THE EMANCIPATION PROCLAMATION FREE BLACK PEOPLE FROM SLAVERY?
- on jan 1, 1863, the emancipation proclamation went into affect while under lincoln to free black people. well, kind of but definitely not really. it only freed black people in areas of rebellion against the union, the south. this was done not in good faith to free black people but an attempt to f*ck over the confederacy. he personally stated his goal was “neither to save or destroy slavery.” he also said that if he could “save the union without freeing any slave,” he would do it. he did not support black people voting, serving on juries or in*******al marriage. so there’s all of that.

💚THE 13TH AMENDMENT ENDED SLAVERY?
- making something into law doesn’t do much when the people the law is attempting to protect do not have access to the info. in 1860, ≈ 5% of black people could read. therefore, many slave “owners” did not tell black people they were free. hence, the importance of juneteenth.

💙 SO, WHAT IS JUNETEENTH THEN?
- on june 19, 1865, union soldiers arrived in Galveston, TX & informed black people that they were free in terms of the law which sparked a huge celebration. that is what juneteenth celebrates!

💖 DID WHITE PEOPLE FREE BLACK PEOPLE?
- this is false. Harriet Tubman freed 70 slaves on her own before joining the union army where she lead a raid that freed 700+ black people. black people freed black people well before any law selfishly or improperly freed black people.

💖 WHY SHOULD BLACK PEOPLE RECEIVE REPARATIONS?
- yes, this is an actual question people ask. in 1860, 80% of the nation’s gross national product was tied to slavery. we worked without pay. it’s time to repay. johnson even gave poor white people 160 acres of land. so to the white people that think you didn’t receive govt “handouts”, you did. you always have & still do. it’s time to redistribute that wealth to black people who built america.

banning drag queens and restricting q***rness is not a new thing…in fact, the United States has a huge history when it comes to it.

almost 150 years worth of history..

in 1863, it was illegal in San Francisco to wear clothing that didn’t match the gender stereotype society places on us.

in the 19th and into the 20th century, if you were arrested because you were in drag or not dressing according to your presenting gender/sex, your name was published in newspapers and you would have a criminal record for life which dramatically affected employment chances for q***r people.

this is one of the many reasons why it is so important to keep discussing the drag bans going across america. so many drag performers rely on the income they receive from doing job to survive.

having q***r representation and drag performances actually reduces the chances of self harm in children and adults, according to the Trevor Project.

as a collective, let’s send a big f*ck you to the bigots out there and keep fighting for justice, reform, safe spaces and representation.

the missing person’s plant milk sticker series is finally here! 🥛

each sticker contains the name, last known location, date last seen and a phone number you can call to report any information 🔎☎️

i started this series because i consume true crime probably more than i consume any other type of media. i noticed the pattern: cases that have people from marginalized communities are less likely to stay alive and are less likely to be taken seriously by law enforcement.

having a sticker on your laptop, phone case, emotional support water bottle, etc could help keep a case alive. if you’re anything like me, i definitely check out the stickers that people have on their devices whenever i’m forced to be in public. i felt this was an amazing and inque way to bring attention to these cases worldwide.

100% of the proceeds from this series is donated to the Black and Missing Foundation, Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women USA and to verified fundraiser efforts from families impacted by the loss of loved one 💌🫶

i started this campaign after learning that indigenous women/girls are 10x more likely to be murdered compared to any other group. murder is their 3rd leading cause of death. they are also over 50% likely to experience sexual violence, abuse and stalking in their lifetime.

in 2020, 268,000 women were reported missing with 100,000 of those cases being black women/girls. missing cases from bipoc are less likely to be covered nationwide. it is up to us to keep their cases alive & open.
