Check this restaurant out. In Sydney, Australia. See those books behind the bar? Many of those are hollow books that I made that they serve their drinks in. Yes, IN. Some of their cocktails are served in flasks, delivered to your table, hidden inside a book.

Just finished up a shipment of new hollow books to restock their supply. (Made the original batch for them back in 2023.)

A little piece of my history.

Today I decided to take a break from Hollow Books to give a wooden chalice I turned some 35ish + years ago some TLC. Scraped out the old beeswax lining and refreshed it with a new pour of beeswax to reseal the inside.

A little history. On and off through the decades this has been my libation sipping vessel, particularly when working in the shop. Whiskey, Bourbon, Gin, Rum… whatever. Pre college it would be soda, juice or Kookaid. Somewhere in my pre or very early teens, I grabbed a chunk of oak from the firewood pile and turned this on my father’s metal lathe (that used to be my grandfather’s lathe). There were no wood turning tools, so I used the blades for turning metal. I believe this was only the second thing I ever turned on a lathe. Dad did not know I was playing with his tools so I’m not sure if I would have been in trouble if he had. Although it was obvious with all the sawdust at the metal lathe.

Just a little piece of my personal woodworking journey that I still use today.

A couple weeks ago I asked on instagram what products people wanted to see with some fabric I had on hand, and a majority voted for more bags! I'm slowly working my way through the fabric stash, and these are the result of it.

The Lecture Room & Library, our two Michelin star restaurant is launching a new menu over the next two weeks, starting with our “From The Sea” section today: Cornwall / Cornouaille. All the fish have been caught between the coast of Cornwall, in Southwest England and Cornouaille, in Brittagne France. The Lecture Room & Library like to work locally within England to source our fish but as we are a French restaurant, we swim freely like the fish to the boarders of France in Cornouaille. Cornwall / Cornouaille: A title only a Masterchef can think of... Pierre Gagnaire.
