Well folks…the time has come. Let’s do the moon dance together. Hah! In fact, if you know about James Brown’s coolest move-of-moves, the Moon Dance, hit me up at Legend Has It and after we have a laugh, I’ve got something for ya’.
You know, Sac, as someone who produces events built on intention, community, support of local artists and businesses, etc.. As someone that puts my heart, hard work and Love and money into these memorable afternoon parties, JUST LIKE MY HOMIE, S A U R U S, we should be conscious of what goes into these. And though he would never say this, since it’s not my event, I will.
That is, as margins get tighter, as less people are heading downtown for a good time and as we have to be more picky about the things we treat ourselves to, WHILE at the same time, an avalanche of wannabe, less intentional and profit driven markets, festivals and popups with look-a-like fonts and bend over vendor fees are happening..well..in case you’re wondering, YES! Yes, this s**t gets harder.
Which is why, imho, our support of the real ones..is even more important. I know you know that.
In this time of artificial slop, artificial intelligence (and I’m not talking about computers) and the cultural disconnect that many people are settling into, s**t like this..the real ones..the good times with good people..well it’s what’s needed. It’s what’s important. And honestly, sometimes it feels likes it’s the antithesis to the bulls**t that the powers that be force upon us. Don’t get me wrong. Keep donating. Keep volunteering. Keep restisting. But also, be you. Be you with friends. Make new friends. Invest in experiences and relationships that will last well beyond your student loans, dicks trying to be dictators and $6/gallon gas.
I hope to see a lot of familiar faces tomorrow. And I can’t wait to meet a lot of new friends too. So, in the spirit of the hardest working man in show biz, let’s get up together to get down together.
