If you've ever built something from scratch, then you know this feeling. Equal parts excited, grateful, nervous, hopeful... and maybe just a little bit exhausted.

This week, we're preparing for inspection.

Not at the finish line yet, but close enough to see it.For now, we're taking it one inspection, one prayer, and one day at a time.

Soon, these doors in Old Town Saginaw will open and you'll finally get to experience everything we've been working so hard to create. And trust me... we've got a few surprises up our sleeves.

Yesterday, we had the opportunity to provide 1,000 bags of popcorn 🍿 for the Dow Championship 🏌‍♀️, and what an experience it was.

A huge thank you to Kendra Trapp and my mom, Alesha Martin-Lane . We spent nearly 14 hours loading equipment, popping popcorn, packing orders, labeling bags, setting up, and meeting so many amazing families throughout the day.

As a young business owner, moments like this remind me why I started Kakes the Great in the first place. It's not always easy, but seeing our small business show up for events like this makes every late night and early morning worth it.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by and grabbed a bag or 3. We had an amazing time, and this is only the beginning.

NEW LOCATION REVEALED🍿

A year ago, I stood in front of this building and took a picture.

Most people probably thought I was just taking a photo.

What they didn't know is I was standing in front of a dream.

At the time, Kakes was still in our SVRC Marketplace location. We had no lease, no keys, no crew, and definitely no guarantee that this space would ever be ours.

But we could see it.

Fast forward to today and we're covered in dust, making a million decisions, second-guessing a few of them, and somehow watching that dream become real right in front of us.

Next week is our inspection.

We're about halfway through this journey, and if all goes well, we'll be sharing our opening date at 418 Court St. very soon.

There have been a lot of emotions tied to this project. Excitement. Fear. Gratitude. Exhaustion. Hope.

Mostly gratitude.

Because every comment, every share, every purchase, every word of encouragement has helped us get here.

Old Town Saginaw, we're getting closer.

For those just joining us, we're bringing our gourmet popcorn, fresh-made favorites, and a few surprises to our new home in Old Town Saginaw.

Proof that we've been working even when we've been a little quiet.

Turns out building a popcorn shop in Old Town Saginaw involves approximately 47 meetings, 312 opinions, and at least one moment where everyone just stands around staring at a wall.

But little by little, the vision for Kakes the Great Popcorn Co.'s new Old Town home is coming together.

We're building something GREAT.

And let's just say... we've been having a lot of conversations about what belongs on that service counter.

But watching this space slowly come to life has been one of the most exciting (and exhausting) parts of the relaunch. Every corner matters. Every detail matters. And trust us… what’s coming to Old Town is going to feel different. 🍿

We truly make it our mission to quietly serve our community whenever we can. Being able to contribute to meaningful causes is something we take great pride in.
