A Farewell to Aunt Matilda’s

Well, my friends… the time has come to say goodbye.

After 10 wonderful years, Aunt Matilda’s Steampunk Trunk is closing its doors permanently.

This is not an easy thing to write. For a decade, you have walked through our doors, discovered strange and wonderful treasures, admired the jewelry, adopted cryptids, wound pocket watches, laughed with us, and made Aunt Matilda’s part of your St. Augustine experience.

Some of you have been coming since the very beginning. Some discovered us only recently. Some came once and became lifelong friends. And so many of you followed us, shared our posts, told your friends about us, and cheered us on through all the changes along the way.

Thank you. Truly.

A little shop in St. Augustine became something far bigger than I ever imagined when I first opened Aunt Matilda’s doors. It became a place where creativity, imagination, history, humor and a little bit of delightful weirdness could all live together.

I will forever be grateful that I got to build it—and that you came along for the adventure.

Thank you for 10 extraordinary years. Thank you for believing in Aunt Matilda. And thank you for making the journey so very memorable.

The Case of the Missing Sherlock Holmes

We are pleased to report that the investigation has resumed.

Sherlock Holmes has returned to Aunt Matilda’s, bringing with him a collection of mysteries, curious objects, questionable suspects, and enough literary intrigue to keep a proper detective occupied for quite some time.

It seems the case was never quite closed.
