So, here’s some background on the Meta-Barons Tarot, one of the rare tarot decks available at My Cauldron Too.

Chilean-born Alejandro Jodorowsky is not just a filmmaker known for such avant-garde/cult films as the “acid western” “El Topo” and the John Lennon-backed “The Holy Mountain,” a weird, surrealist, tarot-inspired allegory about the search for enlightenment/ascension. The 97-year-old Jodorowsky, who moved to Paris in the early 1950s, is also a mime, comic book writer and creator of the spiritual/metaphysical system he calls “psychomagic” and “psychoshamanism.”

Jodorowsky explores his esoteric system in such books as “Psychomagic: The Transformative Power of Shamanic Psychotherapy” and “The Way of Imagination: From Psychomagic to Psychotrance,” and he delves into tarot with his book “The Way of Tarot: The Spiritual Teacher in the Cards.”

Jodorowsky and Argentine artist Juan Giménez created the 1990s comic book series “The Meta-Barons,” which in turn became a now rare, out-of-print tarot deck released in 2015 – and which is available at My Cauldron Too!
