They include many widely used culinary and medicinal herbs, such as sweet basil, garden mint, rosemary, garden sage, marjoram, oregano and English thyme. Also included are arugula, anise hyssop, chives dill, garlic, sorrel, savory, Italian parsley, lavender, lemon balm, peppermint, spearmint, grapefruit mint, apple mint, pineapple mint, chocolate mint, curly mint, orange mint, , Kentucky colonel mint, ginger mint, turmeric, tarragon, and various edible flowers. This variety of mullein is velvety soft. So soft, in fact, it is known as nature’s toilet paper. More commonly, the leaves are used as a natural bandaid, help with minor skin irritations, made into medicinal teas, or used into soaps and lotions. Pro tip: add a leaf inside your shoes when it’s cold—instant installation! No foot warmers needed.

The large flower spikes happen after 2 years of growth and are used for teas, oils, and skincare.

This one is in , right between the parking area and the sales tables, but there are fast-growing starts available for a limited time.

The toothache plants want to bloom! Their medicinal flowers and leaves can help with oral pain relief, canker sores, gingivitis, and general mouth inflammation. They are also used for topical skin conditions, like dermatitis, bug bites, and minor swelling. Some cultures chop the fresh leaves into salads or cook them as greens for a tangy kick to stimulate an appetite.

Get your turmeric roots in the ground before our rainy season really kicks in, and you can have a great crop of these roots in no time.

Once the leaves turn yellow or brown, it’s time to harvest. Gently pull up the plant, rinse off the dirt, and let them dry for a few days. If you want to replant, you can save the large, center root (the “mother”) that has new buds and put it back in the ground. If you miss your time to harvest, it’s okay because they will come back next spring. Just mark where you planted them!
