Happy New Comic Book Day! We had a lot of great books this week. I'll try to narrow them down.

Probably one of my new favorites is If Destruction Be Our Lot which tells the tale of a robot Abraham Lincoln searching for a purpose in life after humanity died out leaving only robots behind. Here we get to see the horrors of what awaits robots at recycling centers if they're deemed defective or not worth fixing. Forcing Abe to drastic measures to survive leading to a compelling cliffhanger that raises a lot of questions.

All the Absolutes were great this week. From introducing the threat of Gorilla Grodd in Flash, to learning more about how monstrous the new Green Arrow is. But The highlight for me has to be the confrontation at the end of Absolute Batman which I don't want to spoil but which really emphasizes that for how dangerous Batman has become, in the Absolute Universe he's still very much an underdog barely getting by not unlike the classic pulp character The Spider.

Battle Beast Fights Conquest. Nuff said.

And finally, Spider-man Long Way Home is a off to a great start. Set in the 70s eras of Spidey, Punisher & Hulk, this crossover pits these characters against each other as they battle over a powerful new weapon being developed by AIM. It's neat seeing a Punisher still relatively unknown and a Hulk that is more monstrous than we're used to know, best shown in a great 2 page spread of him looming behind a squad of Hydra Agents who don't live long past that. And a great sequence which is basically that shooting in the jungle scene from Predator but with the Hulk.
