🌸 Forget the apple. We have a better idea… 🍎😉

There’s a teacher getting ready to spend the next school year helping your child learn, grow, discover, create, and become a little more of who they’re meant to be.

That deserves more than an apple.

It deserves flowers. 💐

A little “thank you” at the beginning of the school year can mean more than you think. Because behind every lesson, every encouraging word, and every “let’s try that again” is someone who cares enough to make a difference.

So this year, send your child’s teacher something that says:

“We appreciate you. We see what you do. And we’re glad you’re here.” ❤️

🌻 Send a teacher some flowers and start the school year with a little extra kindness.

🎙️ "Is that Frank Sinatra?"

That's a question I've heard more times than I can count from customers who call Paragon Flowers.

The answer?

No...it's my friend, John "LUDY" Puleo.

Years ago, John generously gave me permission to use one of his recordings as our music on hold. Since then, thousands of callers have enjoyed his incredible voice—many convinced they were listening to Ol' Blue Eyes himself.

One of the greatest blessings of owning a small business isn't just serving customers. It's the friendships you build along the way with extraordinarily talented people who quietly become part of your story.

John and his wife Nicole perform together as LUDY and his LADY, entertaining audiences throughout Illinois and Wisconsin with everything from Sinatra and the Rat Pack to Michael Bublé, Motown, classic rock, and more. They're regular sellout performers with a remarkable variety of live shows.

John, thank you for lending your voice to Paragon Flowers and for your friendship over the years.

If you've ever called our shop and wondered who was singing...

Now you know.

🎶 Give them a follow, check out their upcoming performances, and if you get the chance to hear them live...don't pass it up.

Some of you already know, but I haven't said it publicly until now.

On June 5, my mother passed away.

For months I've struggled with how—or even whether—to share that news. I spend my life helping other families through loss, yet when it became my own, the words were much harder to find.

My mother was my greatest supporter.

When I was 22 years old, I signed my name to an $84,000 bank loan to open my first flower shop. Like everyone else, she asked, "Are you crazy?" But then she smiled and said something I'll never forget:

"I'm so proud of you."

Forty years later, after I had moved to St. Charles where nobody knew my name and started all over again, one of the last things she ever told me was that she had never seen anyone build a life and a following from nothing the way I had.

At 63 years old, hearing that from your mother still means everything.

I have spent my career helping families celebrate lives, comfort one another, and say goodbye. I've seen people who lived more than a century, and others whose lives ended far too soon. Through all of it, I always knew that if I picked up the phone, Mom would be there.

She and my father shared nearly 70 years of marriage. Fifteen months after losing him, she went home to be with him. Somehow that brings me peace.

People often compliment our flower shop, but rarely is it about the flowers themselves. They remember how they were treated.

They remember that someone listened.

That someone cared.

That someone was kind.

If you've ever wondered where that comes from, it came from my mother.

She taught me that every person deserves dignity, patience, compassion, and another chance tomorrow.

She loved hearing the stories I'd tell her about our customers—the bride who cried happy tears, the husband whose anniversary bouquet was a surprise, the recipient who called to say, "I've been on this earth for over 80 years, and these are the prettiest flowers I've ever received."

Those stories made her smile.

And speaking of smiles...

The second photo is Shannon with my mom.

Many of you know Shannon only as the warm, caring voice on the other end of the phone. Some of you have never met her, so now you can finally put a face to the name.

To me, Shannon isn't just part of this business—she's family. The love and respect between her and my mom was something truly special. My mother adored her, just as she adored our dogs, especially Muggie, who appointed himself her nighttime protector whenever we visited.

If you've ever felt cared for by our little flower shop, you've experienced a piece of my mother without even realizing it.

Her kindness lives on here.

It lives in the way we answer the phone.

It lives in the way we deliver flowers.

It lives in the way we try to treat every customer like a neighbor and every family like our own.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out with your prayers, your cards, your hugs, and your understanding these past weeks.

Mom, thank you for believing in me from the very beginning.

I hope we've made you proud.

❤️

Celebrating My Mom for Women’s History Month

This month we celebrate the women who shaped our lives, and for our family, that woman is my mother.

She worked full time while raising our family, yet somehow still kept a home that was warm, clean, organized, and filled with love. Meals were always on the table, lunches were packed, and we always knew we were cared for.

Somehow she also managed to be a saint to my father… and anyone who knows me knows that patience must run deep in this woman.

Today she continues to inspire everyone around her.

• A devoted mother and the heart of our family
• A hardworking woman who balanced career and home
• A lifetime of charity work and giving back to her community
• A proud member of the Catholic Women’s Club and community leader
• Still working out every single day
• Still attending church each morning
• Still praying for her family
• Still lighting up every room she walks into

She is the pride of our family and a bright light to everyone at her community.

Mom, thank you for the life you built, the love you gave, and the example you continue to set.

Happy Women’s History Month to one remarkable woman. ❤️

Dads, this night matters more than you may realize...

For many, many years now, the St. Charles Park District has trusted our shop with the honor of preparing the flowers for the Daddy-Daughter Dance.

And every single year, I find myself thinking the same thing…

These dads are incredibly lucky.

I was blessed to meet an amazing woman and gain a wonderful stepson, but I’ll admit — I always hoped I might one day have a daughter of my own. We never get to see the dances or the smiles in person — everything is prepared and delivered ahead of time — but we know what those flowers represent.

Dads, this night matters more than you may realize.

Tonight isn’t just a dance.
It’s a memory your daughter will carry forever.

You are quietly setting the example for the kind of partner she will one day look for — someone kind, respectful, joyful, present, and proud to stand beside her. The way you treat her, laugh with her, and make her feel valued becomes the standard she carries into her future.

Children grow up far too fast. Everyone says it… because it’s true.

So for this one evening — forget work. Forget responsibilities. Let loose a little. Dance even if you’re terrible at it. Be silly. Be present. Be proud.

Because tonight, your little princess just wants to show off her Dad.

And believe me… it’s far better when girls receive flowers simply because they are loved, rather than because someone is trying to apologize to her later in life. We see both sides of that story every day.

These moments help shape young hearts and hopeful futures.

We are deeply honored to play even a small part in this beautiful tradition each year.

From all of us at Paragon Flowers & Eclectic Garden — thank you for letting us share in such a meaningful night. 🌸
