I am so excited to announce this book because we have been missing it terribly for many years. Actually I checked my computer and the last time we were able to order new inventory of this book was back in 2018, and we have been checking to try and get more since soon after that date. Well suddenly last week the book showed up back in stock at the publisher so we quickly ordered !

Today’s recommended book is the go-to guide and reference book for anyone with any size garden at all in Louisiana .

Chatting Books Online, Wednesday September 16, 2026. Today’s featured book is : Why You Should Read Children’s Books, Even Though You Are So Old and Wise by Katherine Rundell.

I saw the title of this small gift book and was immediately intrigued. As you no doubt know I read a lot of children’s books so of course I would be interested in a book defending that action .

Katherine Rundell lays out her reasons why it is not only acceptable but actually important that we as adults continue to read children’s books in this essay. She traces the history of children’s literature from simple instruction books ( did you know there was an absolute plethora of books around the 1400s that gave such instructions to children as not picking their nose - apparently a popular topic at the time). to modern day. I must admit I found myself reordering a few favorites that had been absent from our shelves as of late. All in all not what I expected ( I thought it would be more short quotes etc, but it is a full on educational essay on the topic) but I am glad I read it.

The gift sized book is hardcover, it is 70 pages long and currently sells for $17.99 a copy.

I am sharing this book of Ashley Elston’s that came out earlier this year today because she is one third of an amazing panel of Thriller writers that will be joining us in St Francisville on Oct 29 . Tickets went on sale yesterday and are selling quickly so get yours before we sell out ! Ashley is the author of last year’s Reese’s BookClub and Best Selling book “First Lie Wins” and guess where her second book, Anatomy of an Alibi, is set????? That is right, the backdrop of this book is St Francisville and Baton Rouge. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It kept me guessing until the very end trying to figure out what REALLY happened to Camille Bayliss’ husband while she was spending a weekend in St Francisville.

The book is currently available in hardcover, it is 352 twisting pages long and sells for $30.00 a copy.

Chatting Books Online, Monday September 14, 2026. Today’s featured book is : The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion , Volume 6 by Beth Brower.

Guess What? That’s right, this past weekend I mentally travelled back to 1884 Britain to revisit my friend Emma M. Lion and read volume 6 of her journals - and I am not the least bit sorry!

This week I thought I would give you a sort of overall description of Emma’s Journals. Think of her story as : Jane Austen meets I Love Lucy with a side of Friends. So picture 1800’s England with a loveable central character who gets herself into the MOST outlandish of situations and is always surrounded by the motley crew of friends she has assembled - but in the drawing room of Lapis Lazuli house , and with tea, rather than a coffee house in Central Park in the 90’s.

The book is available in paperback, and this one is 231 pages long .
