Houston....We have lift-off! The leopard pair have laid eggs. It happened yesterday and all eggs still seem viable. There may only be 50 or so, but this is just the start. She seems to be spending most of the time tending the eggs while he just swims about. He checks on them now and then, but she seems to doing most of the work. (I think he may be going out to bars at night.)
In an ironic twist.....the rose heart was introduced to my large discus tank two nights before to join with three males and three other females. Well!!!! She immediately began "flirting" with each of the "boys" and lo and behold there were eggs the next day. I've narrowed it down to one of the two who continued to pay attention after the eggs were laid. As a good father, I will select the proper suitor for the rose red and provide them with their own tank. (It was between a "tomato" and a "pigeon blood". I choose the tomato, because they seem the best match.....Isn't that what any father would do?)
