The Great Northern Yarn Haul 2026 is returning for the month of July. There are 26 stores in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine participating. Start at The Yarn Bank to get a passport and the 11th Annual GNYH bag, available with purchases of $20.00 or you can purchase the bag for $10.00. And, choose a small gift with each purchase over $30.
Lykke Swifts are now available at the store. We continue to have your favorite yarn and accessories as well as new colors.
Discover St J Final Friday on June 26th was a great success. We offered pom-pom making, button spinners, and crocheted bracelets. (To the young man who asked for a blue bracelet, it is at the store for you.) Dale Crocker gave spinning demonstrations that were fun to watch.
We look forward to the next Discover St J Final Fridays on July 31st and August 28th. Raffles to support the St Johnsbury Food Banks We have a winner for the first Raffle drawn on June 26th! Knit and Crochet with a Teacher* Class Hours: 4-6 PM
Dates: Tuesdays: Jul 7 and Aug 4
Saturday: July 13, 27, Aug 1, 22
*Student’s choice–whatever knitters and crocheters need–whether brand new or advanced. Learn how to knit or crochet! Bring a project that has you stuck, learn a new technique (including those we teach in topic classes), or work on modifying a pattern for a different yarn or gauge. You’ll find an encouraging environment and a nice time hanging out with fellow crafters.
Sayings for Knitters and Crocheters
“Just one more row!” – The knitter’s (and crocheter’s!) ultimate (and famously false) promise before going to bed.
If I count it just one more time, maybe the number will be right!
Move over reality. This is a job for yarn!
Terms
Knitflix / Knitflixing – the act of binge-watching TV shows while knitting, usually with a 90% chance of making a mistake.
Castonitis – the uncontrollable urge to cast on a new project, even though you already have six on the needles.
