July 27, 2017. Sam Shepard — playwright, actor, sometime drummer — died at his farm near Midway, Kentucky, from complications of ALS. He was 73.
Patti Smith wrote:

"I knew that I would see Sam again somewhere in the landscape of dream, but at that moment I imagined I was back in Kentucky, with the rolling fields and the creek that widens into a small river. I pictured Sam’s books lining the shelves, his boots lined against the wall, beneath the window where he would watch the horses grazing by the wooden fence. I pictured myself sitting at the kitchen table, reaching for that tattooed hand.”

Night Town Books - 2026

Pulp is back! Read all of these exciting, rip-roaring, fascinating, adventures of Zana O'Savin, and her team of globe traveling trouble-shooters, and this final novel in the series promising to, once more get the reader to race through the pages, to find out what happens next.
Modern Pulp Fiction Master and award-winning author, Craig McDonald delivers the goods.

“Team O’Savin braves annihilation in a three-front war! The Free Crofters are a forgotten people hiding in plain sight whose goals are seemingly menacing as the Crofters are mysterious. The Scarlet Duchess is a potentially ageless, shadowy enigma committed to Russian world domination. More terrifying? Both may be in league with the highest office in the land. The Zana O’Savin saga, praised for bringing character-driven pulp adventure into the 21st Century, reaches its harrowing climax!”
