Woody's Music Our focus is on teaching, and encouraging anyone interested in playing music. We offer individual music lessons on several instruments!

Our guitar instructor is Scott Peterson, a Graduate from G.I.T. and has a certificate in Jazz/Fusion. He can teach sight reading on guitar, or bass, and is very good when it comes to teaching music theory, scale studies, chords, and technique. He teaches here Tuesday, and Thursday. Due to my continuing health issues, after 32 years of serving the music community, Woody's Music is closed. The good news is my son, Chris Black, along with his wife, Liss, will be opening Black Castle Music in the Charles building, at 217 North Mill street. in downtown St. Louis (formerly Woody's Music). At this point, they are nearly moved in, and will begin doing business there January 2nd, 2024.He will be putting the finishing touches on before opening on the 2nd, and if you need something stop by. I am sure he will be glad to help you. I am so proud that he is following in my footsteps with live music, teaching, and operating a music store! 😎 Don't forget to shop local for all your musical needs! Please share!

Learn to play music with 2 local professionals at Woody's Music! Scott Peterson is a fantastic guitar player with qualifications from G.I.T. and holds a certificate in Jazz Fusion. He can teach sight-reading on guitar, and bass guitar! He has a great ear, and a vast knowledge of music theory.
Woody Black can teach over a dozen different musical instruments, such as, guitar, bass guitar, mandolin, tenor banjo, 5 string banjo, ukulele, keyboard, harmonica, theremin, and more! Woody studied piano, and music theory at Delta College. He has been teaching music for over 48 years, and is well versed in several styles of music, from Rock (1950s to whatever is current), Country, Folk, Bluegrass, Reggae, Blues, and much more. Both are very professional and are very well-mannered. They can teach all ages, from the youngest to the oldest! Call (989) 681-3083 to set your appointment. All lessons are $15 per half hour.
