Black Heart has been collaborating with sculptor Joe Simon since the 1990s starting with his work for GEOmetric Design, Inc. He has sculpted a dozen of Black Heart's 1:1 scale wall-hangers and busts since 2009 and at least a couple of dozen microMANIA busts and figures. Not to mention hundreds of sculptures for collectors and other producers. We continue our collaboration with Joe and have also started offering figures, busts and Christmas ornaments under his own 3rd Eye Design Studios label. Black Heart has been patiently awaiting word on a new LIMITED EDITION offering from artist Apikitt Meechan. We just got the final details this afternoon.

The "Beta Alien" stands just under 19 inches including the base. The kit includes 17 resin pieces, one transparent piece, two size A3 posters and a Certificate of Authenticity. The kit was beautifully sculpted, painstakingly engineered and cleanly cast… all by Apikitt himself. Only 25 castings will be produced but, because of the anticipated demand, only UP TO 10 KITS will be made available to Black Heart for sale. The kit retails at $275 plus $35 shipping anywhere in the continental U.S. Two have already been sold. Only up to 8 more remain. A couple of weeks, ago, my kids and I visited the Bloodsuckers: Leeches to Legends exhibit at Chicago's Field Museum of Natural History. The exhibit is a maze of several rooms featuring blood-sucking birds, worms, flies, moths, and other bugs and just about any other creepy blood-sucking thing on this planet. One of the rooms focused on legendary blood-suckers through the centuries and from cultures and countries all over the world. There were horror movie posters and vampire-hunting paraphernalia that were really cool. But for me, the coolest thing was to see that the most prominent display in that "Legends" part of the exhibit were Black Heart's Nosferatu and Lugosi Dracula busts which were sculpted by Jeff Yagher. I just wish the museum had contacted me before setting up the exhibit. It would have been awesome to have gotten them to include our Christopher Lee Dracula bust and our Blacula bust (both also sculpted by Jeff Yagher).

Now, in Black Heart’s 15th year in business, we can truthfully say that we produce MUSEUM QUALITY models. Yeah, BABY!!
