Handcrafted, with love. I’m Maren, the artist behind The Tin Owl. I have an eclectic background. My family means the world to me. They shape my thoughts.

It ranges from teaching and microfinance to paper-routing and dog-walking. I’m restless with a terrible case of wanderlust but I love home more than anything. The camera is an extension of my mind and it opens up new worlds to me every time I look through it. I surround myself with objects that inspire me. From the artwork on my walls to the coffee mug I drink from every morning to the jewelry I wear – they all contribute in some small (or large) way to my outlook on the day. My goal with The Tin Owl is to create images and products that enhance your day, that make you smile, that strike a chord and inspire you.

Mister Rogers cheered me up today 💕

I had to make an unexpected and *not cheap* trip to the UPS store this morning. In between my deep breaths, trying desperately not to take out my frustrations on the kind young man helping me, I saw that they had Mister Rogers stamps in stock. Mister Rogers stamps!! Yay!! I’ve been trying to grab some since they came out, but the post office is always out of them. My mood instantly brightened. Strange how a little piece of sticky paper can do that.

Anyway. In an attempt to both share my joy and recoup some of the money I had to part with this morning, I’m hoping to sell some stickers this weekend!! (Like at least 50 stickers 🫣😭❤️) so the first 20 sticker orders will ship out with a magic mood boosting Mister Rogers stamp ☺️❤️ make sure to select the free shipping option and don’t add anything but stickers to your cart! I was reluctant to start making button magnets… even though they are made by me, in my studio, with my artwork, magnet by magnet, they didn’t feel as ‘handmade’ as my wooden magnets.

But I’m so glad I changed my mind. I love these. They are different than my wooden magnets, but I love them all the same 💕 and look at how pretty they look all stacked ready to ship out to their new retail home?! So smooth, such fun pattern repetition ☺️

And a bonus, they are cheaper and easier to make, so they are super affordable for you ✨win win 🥰

I don’t know if I’ll have these at shows this fall, but for now they’re on my website and available for wholesale!

It feels so good to be back in the studio!! Faire Market is under way (woohoo!) so I wanted to introduce myself to new faces 🥰 I’m Maren (the human) and this is my faithful helper Inca (the cat). We design and make everything by hand in Minneapolis, and NEVER use generative AI. We use a partner to print stickers and photographs larger than 11x14; everything else is made amongst this beautiful mess of a studio with a lot of love and care.

I’m hoping to raise some money for families impacted by 🧊 raids at my local elementary school. “Many families are now at risk of losing their homes or going without essentials like food, diapers, and other necessities for their children and babies. The stress and anxiety are overwhelming, but together, we can help provide some relief and hope.” The fundraiser is currently short about $7500 of their goal- I’d love to make even a tiny dent in that!

$2 from Minnesota flag stickers and Minneapolis, Minnesota stickers will go directly to support families in my neighborhood affected by ICE raids.

$1 from all other stickers will go directly to support families in my neighborhood affected by ICE raids.

—why stickers?— I feel my energy and time is best spent serving my community in person right now rather than in my studio making magnets and ornaments. But money is also desperately needed, and stickers are the most efficient way for me to raise what I can. Stickers are in stock, require the least labor on my part, and a comparatively low cost to produce. The Minnesota flag and Minneapolis, Minnesota stickers are at the heart of this because they also offer a visual representation of solidarity with our city and state.

Whaaaaat! While it’s too late to order online for Christmas, it’s the perfect time to come shop 80 makers this weekend at !! There are SO many fun family activities (including train rides, a craft corner, and SANTA!!!), yummy food and hot beverages, and did I mention 80 artists to shop??!
