Thank you, Sugar Samurai, for the most epic first full season our little Sugar Empire could have ever hoped for. 🩵⚔️🍓

Together, we conquered the sugar battlefield of the Minnesota State Fair and traveled our sugar map to cities, festivals, and adventures across Minnesota.

But mono no aware reminds us of the bittersweet beauty of impermanence: seasons change, moments pass, and that is what makes them so special.

Tanghulu began centuries ago as a traditional Chinese street food and became a beloved confection across Asia, enjoyed at night markets, festivals, and celebrations. In honoring that history, Iemochi closes our first full matsuri season with grateful hearts.🏮

To every Sugar Samurai who found the blue and white stripes, waited in our lines, tried Tanghulu, came back for another skewer, or simply cheered us on, thank you for making this season unforgettable.

For now, the sugar battlefield grows quiet and our little Sugar Empire rests. 🏯💤

Until the cherry blossoms bloom again. 🌸🩵

This weekend, Saturday, Sept 19th, from 2-8 p.m., the Sugar Empire rolls into Polar Lakes Park, White Bear Township with fresh Tanghulu made right before your eyes.

Find the blue and white stripes, grab your favorite candied fruit before the end of summer, and explore all the fun happening around us! 🍓🍇🍊

As a Minnesota-based, family-owned business, Iemochi knows just how precious summer is around here. ☀️🩵

From community festivals to our State Fair debut, we’ve loved sharing fresh Tanghulu with our neighbors across our great state. 🍓⚔️

Happy Days marked our final stop in Ramsey this season, and we couldn’t think of a sweeter way to say “see you next spring” to our friends at the City of Ramsey, Anoka County and the community that gave our little Sugar Empire one of its very first places to grow. 🩵

But the Shogun of Sweets isn’t slowing down! As the days get shorter and fall gets closer, our Sugar Samurai are already on the move. 🍂⚔️

Next weekend, find the blue and white stripes at White Bear Township Day and Twin Cities Veggie Fest!

Ben and I, cofounders and owners of Iemochi, have never missed a photo booth opportunity at the Minnesota State Fair since we were 17 years old, and this year was no exception! 🩵🎡

We stepped away from our stall for just a moment to keep the tradition going. 📸

From two teenagers taking State Fair photo booth pictures, and every year since, to owning our very own stall together, this one feels a little extra special. 🥹

Some traditions are just worth keeping. 🩵

And while the Fair may be over, Iemochi isn’t slowing down! ⚔️🍓 Come see us THIS WEEKEND at Happy Days Festival, grab a Tanghulu, and keep this sweet journey going with us!

We’re finally awake again and well rested! 😅🩵

Words cannot fully express our gratitude to everyone who made our first year at the Minnesota State Fair such an unforgettable success!

First and foremost, THANK YOU to our Fair Goers and newest Sugar Samurai recruits! ⚔️🍓 Your kindness, patience, curiosity, and encouragement carried us through the 12-day marathon. Thank you for embracing Tanghulu, welcoming Iemochi into your State Fair traditions, and allowing us to bring something a little different in food and service to the Fair. 🩵

To our concession neighbors and friends at Holy Land, Caribbean Heat, and El Burrito Mercado — thank you for keeping us fed, hydrated, encouraged, and reminding us that the emotional roller coaster was all part of the experience. 😅

To International Bazaar Superintendent Alex and the incredible behind-the-scenes team, especially Bruce and Tai — thank you for everything you do to keep vendors and Fair Goers safe and supported.

And finally, to our family, friends, and amazing staff: we could not have crossed that finish line without you.

We learned so much this year, but the biggest lesson? Love, kindness, and staying true to yourself and your values will get you through just about anything. 🩵
