Been very busy the past few months finishing up a ton of lengthy repairs. . About finished with a second fret job and bringing a vintage Gibson super strat, and an old BC Rich Warlock back from the dead. . That said, let the builds begin!!! 🎸🤟🎸Going through lumber, making top plates, and bodies for upcoming said builds. Hope you all have a rockin' day!!!🙂

Had the honor of working on a super rare Rickenbacker 362/12 double neck guitar!!! This vintage beauty came in with the 12 string neck about to come completely off, and with a nasty ground hum to boot. I first carefully removed the neck pickup, as the lead wire was run through the neck tenon. Then the neck was carefully removed. Upon removal it appeared a white vinyl type glue was used on a previous reset that caused it to fail. All old glue was cleaned off the tenon and mortise was reset with the correct glue for maple. FUN FACT- Rickenbacker guitars use a conversion varnish finish, so any refinishing is about impossible, even using that same material. . However I did find a way to make the color and a mild clear to hide the repair, much better than the guy before me. In the process of putting back together, two string slots were reworked as they were buzzing on the first fret. And lastly, two broken ground connections were addressed making it a much quieter sounding instrument. This was perhaps one of the most challenging repairs to date in some while. . And look at her now! Oh yes, and what is better than 6 blue balls? 18 blue balls!!!!🤣🤟🎸 A set of Blue Magic Music electric 12's in .009 gauge, and Rock formula .009 on the 6 side. . Yeah, I may not have a fancy shop with a nice store front or a bunch of guitars that you can play while sipping coffee or watching TV while you wait to have a set up done. . Or brag to be the best builder or repair guy in the World . . I also don't have a huge overhead like big shops do, causing you to overpay for services. . BUT- what I do have is skills.
Skills that took me years to acquire. To be able to do repairs on instruments that would scare the crap out of the best "guitar techs". . What I also have is support from the best string maker in the World- Blue Magic Music. It is an honor to be one of the few certified Luthiers recommended by them. You can bet this wounded rare Rickenbacker 362/12 will grace the best strings in the World!
