It’s Grouper time ! Gag grouper will open September 1 and end on October 1 this year. Time to cash in. Last year it was only one week long and the year before only lasted two weeks. This year they decided to give us the month of September!! So we are going to run two 8hr trips on Saturday 12 and once again Saturday September 26. Trip times 8 to 4 and I’m limit the boat to only 27ppl so you will have plenty of room. I would think that we will catch hogfish in the same areas we are going to fish. I’m not happy about them picking September however because the seasons have been closed for so long I seen gags stick around all summer long and think that we should come back with some very nice fish in the box. We will have the normal bait of squid and sardines provided and hopefully we can get live pinfish also. Our live well can keep 100 alive for us so the live bait will be limited. The pinfish will be provided for free along with the other baits. Let’s go get them !! Call me to get your spot before we sell out. We most likely will also catch a few on our half days but this all day will be targeting GAGS Not grunts.

Light load and plenty of fish, this was a group of seven catch on our 5hr trip. Properly iced and clean right after we pulled in the dock. Been going with us for years and made it a family tradition fishing with us. This time of year usually means lot of room on the boat and plenty of fish coming over the rail. Fish were chewing the whole time it’s has been insane the last two trips with basically non stop action. Best summer bite I’ve seen in a while. We got plenty of room Wednesday and Thursday only this week! 727-744-4015 for reservations. Can’t hook it till you book it. Tight lines, no fish were harmed in this photo.

The weather has been a roller coaster the last couple of weeks with rain and wind. Fortunately we got out 4 times this week. Bite has been steady nothing crazy but picking up for the most part. Weather is looking great. Seeing lots of grunts, in the mix porgies, A lot of throw back red grouper (about an inch or two short to keep), few gags and hogfish. Couple of pictures of last trip. First time Gulf of America Bexley age 9 and Zion age 11 from Missouri teamed up with a double header today’s 1/2 day. They landed a wide verity of different fish including some porgies in the mix. It’s great to see kids enjoying what the outdoors has to offer. Zion already told asked his dad when is our next trip ! I think they are hooked !!

Going fishing ! 1/2 day today. Fishing has picked up over the last week. Gag grouper season opens September 1 to October 1 this year. I would have preferred opening up October 1 but at least they gave us a month this year. Normally the they start coming in from the deep water late September however the good news is we are still catching them in shallow water this year !! Looks like it’s going to be a great season. We have been closing down for a week in September so the crew can take a week to go fishing however this year I’m thinking about not closing and adding a all day on the week end to get in on the open gag season. If I’m still seeing fish next month I’ll open up the dates that we are going. Just an update on our red snapper trips. The fishing for red snapper this year has been hit and miss. Only boats that are doing good are the over night boats. I just can’t see running out and taking the chance that the fishing is off. Only good reports are from past 70 miles out so far. Few fish hit and miss 30 to 40 miles but on a good day they might have 6 or 8 for the boat. That’s not good enough for me to take anyone at this point. If it changes I’ll put together a longer trip. I’ll keep everyone updated on fishing reports. Thanks everyone!!
