Well... life sucks sometimes.
The good news is that things are finally looking up!
As many of you know, our machine experienced significant delivery delays and was not operational until the second week of August. Once it arrived, we got to work and produced more than 15,000 popsicles. Unfortunately, every single one of them began to leak.
We spent countless hours working alongside our film distributor and the film manufacturer to determine the cause of the problem. As this is our first time operating this type of equipment, we've relied heavily on our suppliers and industry experts to help guide us through the process.
From the beginning, we clearly communicated that our packaging film needed to withstand temperatures of up to 180°F during our pasteurization process. Based on those specifications, we purchased more than 45,000 feet of roll film. Unfortunately, we later discovered that the film provided was only rated for temperatures up to 150°F.
Because the film could not withstand our process, the package seals failed, causing the leakage issues. We were devastated to learn this was the root of the problem, especially after the amount of product, time, and labor that had already been invested.
Thankfully, the supplier has acknowledged the issue and is working to make it right. However, this does mean another delay. We are currently waiting for a sample of the correct film to arrive so we can complete a test run. If everything performs as expected, we'll immediately place the order for the new film and begin production as soon as it arrives.
We are hopeful that the new rolls will be here within the next few weeks, and once they are, we'll be making popsicles as fast as we can!
We know many of you have been patiently waiting, and we truly appreciate your understanding and support throughout this process. We can't wait to finally get these popsicles into your hands.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us directly.
Thank you,
Amanda & Emily
