Our drum and guitar instructor Josh Mighell is down in Nashville with 15-year-old Salem Music Centre student Payden Bello and his family.

Payden is playing tonight at the Commodore Grille writer’s night with several of his original songs. Way to go, Payden!!!

You may have seen and heard him recently at Freed Fest playing at Kast Iron Soda Works and nature+nurture and on the cover of The Salem News last weekend!

Today the Salem Music Centre remembers Raymond Cox who passed one year ago today and was formerly the owner of the store along with his wife Jan Schaeffer Cox. Together they opened the door for so many kids in the community to experience music and to get ahold of instruments.

Ray was an Army Veteran and was also the catalyst (along with Jerry Mong) that brought the Veteran guitar program to Salem. To-date, the program has provided nearly 40 free guitars to our local service members.

This program continues in his legacy and the efforts he made continue to make an impact for his fellow Veterans in the community. We miss you, Ray!

What a week! We hosted Daniel de los Reyes and Chris Fryar of the Zac Brown Band who flew in to teach, inspire and perform with several of our music students at the Spring Recital held at the Columbiana Arts Theater. The guys also rehearsed and performed alongside the Veteran graduates of Operation Six String and got to share their expertise with the students of Project Mayhem at Boardman High School. Thank you Chris and Danny for pouring into the next generation and for honoring our nation’s heroes!

This Monday December 15th at 6:30pm the drum and guitar students of The Salem Music Centre will be performing on-stage at The CAT - Columbiana Arts Theater!! Many of these performers will be accompanied by Jake Sommers (Drummer of Luke Combs) while he is in town to teach at the store and do educational events in our community. Tickets are still available and we hope you will join us for a fun night of supporting our musicians of tomorrow!
