5 years ago today, Curly Girl Candy Shop opened our doors for the very first time!

When I started my adult working life in publishing over 30 years ago 😲, this isn't where my ladder was headed. How lucky for me my ladder had so many broken rungs that sent me in different directions. This is by far the hardest job I've ever had, but most definitely the best! I'm grateful to everyone who has had a hand in helping me build this candy heaven here in Salem, MA ... from friends & family to contractors to employees and especially all our customers!

Looking forward to the next 5!

We like to say everyone is a kid in a candy shop at Curly Girl Candy Shop! I knew kids would love it, but the joy we bring to so many adults was a very pleasant surprise. 🍭

I know I say this every month but, c'mon, how is it September already?!?! Where did the summer go?

September brings the start of the new school year!
September brings the start of spooky season!
And this September brings on new Sweet Support that will vendor benefit HAWC .

We've supported HAWC in the past and one of the coolest things is when we ask customers if they want to add a Smartie pop to benefit HAWC & they tell us stories of how HAWC helped them or a family member or friend. We love to be part of that.

A Window Story
1. We start our story with the happy ending.
2. Somewhere in the hours between closing on Super Bowl Sunday and opening on Monday morning, our window was the victim of assault. To protect the window and prevent any additional damage, the window was boarded up.
3. The Curly Girl signal was sent out to our illustrious, reliable, creative window artist Painted Lady Sign Co. "Meg, the logo, it's half covered up! What are we to do? Can you help? We need a timeless design that can last awhile. And mercy, that logo, it hurts to look at."
4. Can she help? She did better than that. She replicated the other half of the logo well beyond my expectations and all was set right in Curly Girl Candy Land.

Blink & it's August! New month = new Sweet Support. This month Smartie pops benefit Northeast Arc

This important organization helps people with disabilities and/or Autism become full participants in their community; choosing for themselves how to live, learn, work, socialize and play.

We've partnered with and they are a great group of people doing great work.

This week, Eileen from North Shore Community Action Programs stopped in to pick up the May Sweet Support donation. We didnt even plan it & we matched each other & the NSCAP logo!

Our 2026 tracker is inching up. Maybe June will give us a big bump. Remember, this Pride Month, our Sweet Support benefits NAGLY
