Welcome spring, here in the Northern Hemisphere, the season of return! On this Equinox, in perfect balance of light and dark, we honor the necessary and transformative cycles of life and death, of endings and beginnings.

Persephone, rising from the Underworld as Queen, reminds us that rebirth is not about erasing the past but carrying its wisdom forward. Spring speaks to those who have walked through their own Underworlds and return with fire in their bones and a crown they forged themselves.

For those in the Southern Hemisphere, today marks the first day of autumn, the beginning of your seasonal descent into stillness. On this Equinox, as light and dark briefly stand in balance, a time for reflection, release, and renewal begins. In your realm, Persephone is reclaiming her throne as the Queen of the Dead.

Embrace stillness and turn inward to gather wisdom before the long night of winter. Now is the time to slow, to listen, to prepare. Growth does not only happen in the light; deep transformation takes root in the quiet, liminal, chthonic spaces.

Persephone as both Queen of the Dead and Goddess of Renewal, concurrently, can seem like a strange paradox.

However, it is precisely this duality that makes her so powerful. She does not simply shift between roles. She embodies both at once, holding the wisdom of death even as she walks among the living.

Her time in the Underworld is not a prison sentence; she claims the throne and governs the realm with understanding rather than fear. When she emerges in spring, she does not abandon her chthonic depths; she carries them within her. Renewal is not a denial of what has passed, but an integration of it in order to learn and grow and evolve.

Persephone reminds us that true transformation requires embracing both light and shadow. She is not one thing or the other; she is the cycle itself, the ever-turning rhythm of descent and return.
