I’m stunned. I went to put postage on a 1 oz small (6x4x.5”) bubble package from VA to AZ last night and Etsy told me the charge to me would be over $8!!
USPS. Ground. Which is supposed to be the cheapest means of shipping a package with tracking.
I quickly backed out and bought a flat and repackaged in a regular envelope but of course that doesn’t have tracking. The cost? Just under $2.
I will ALWAYS refund shipping overcharges. But I do round up to the next dollar above the actual cost, for simplicity’s sake.
I dislike shipping without tracking but the government is getting greedy and the new postmaster general has a conflict of interest in that he sits on Fed Ex’s board.
If this bothers you, please do two things:
1. Complain to your congressional representatives.
2. Consider looking thru the shop for additional items you might need and combine your order with other things (maybe even something a friend might want?) so you bring the overall cost of shipping per item down a bit?
