Celebrating 52 years in business, we've been buying & selling quality used & new records, cassettes, CDs & Blu-rays-DVDs since 1974. The Record Exchange is one of the oldest used brick & mortar record stores in the United States, founded in Salem, MA in 1974. 2022 marks our 48th Anniversary. During the pandemic, our HOURS are 4 days a week, Wednesdays through Saturday, from 10 to 5:00 PM. Please c

We are and have always been a TRUE independent music store, always specializing in buying & selling quality used & new RECORDS, but also buying and selling used & new CDs and DVDs. We do NOT have a website and we rarely sell items online...our BEST stuff is in our shop! All our effort is put into maintaining a great brick and mortar record shop, with an eclectic, ever-changing selection of excellent condition used and new LPs offered at fair prices. And although we’re passionate about music and vinyl, we love meeting people and connecting with our customers. We pay TOP CASH prices for excellent condition LP records in many genres, though at the present time we are buying used media very selectively and BY APPOINTMENT only.

1. A huge batch of fresh new & used CDs hit the bins last week. Now we’re back to pricing quality used and some new (new releases & select reissues) LPs. We’ve been super busy (THANK YOU) & freshly priced items usually sell pretty quickly!
2. HORROR DVDs: Check out the photos on this week’s post. We TRY to have a solid stock of horror DVDs leading up to Halloween…and this batch (there are MORE) is quite decent, and the condition is mostly top notch. These scary treasures will start going out on Friday (…or earlier).
