I’m m not sure we’re ready to let go of summer just yet but these fall beauties make the bittersweet transition a little bit easier.

Who is decorating for fall this week?

When decorating your fall front porch don’t forget that sunny porches will need to be watered more frequently and shady porches can be a little less often.

We love mums, kale, coneflower, pansies, and grasses this time of year as well as getting all of our perennials into the ground.

Fall is here and so is mum season! A few tips to keep in mind:

The mums that we grow for Home Depot and Walmart stores already have their blooms and buds set so that you can grow them in full sun or in the shade.

If you want to plant them in the ground outside, make sure they are in a full sun location so that they can set blooms for next year.

While mums hate drying out, they also hate having wet feet, so make sure they are hydrated and have good drainage.

If you can find our planters with the word “Hydro planter” on the tag this is an excellent way to keep your mum’s happy.

Especially those Pinterest worthy front porches. We grow plants for The Home Depot and Walmart stores, so you know we’re excited for spooky season too!

Mums are a fall front porch classic and we love seeing them as an annual AND a perennial!

Make sure you give them plenty of moisture with GREAT drainage.

We love combining them with kale, grasses, pansies, rudbeckia, creeping Jenny and more.

Everybody wants to know if Mums actually need full sun in here is the answer:

YES IF: you are planning to grow them as a perennial in a place where you want them to come back here after year.

They will need six or more hours of sun to set those beautiful blooms for next year.

NO IF: you are growing your mums as a beautiful front porch annual, which is the most common way we find people growing them.

We have already given them all the tender loving care they need to have a full set of stunning blooms for your fall porch.

You can even grow them in the shade to keep their blooms looking gorgeous.

The cooler temperature of the shade will help the blooms to last a bit longer
