The point of Catholic doctrine for which St. Thomas More was martyred---that of papal supremacy---was the one doctrine which he himself had long doubted?

St. Thomas More's conscience was not only unsupported by his intellect, but by his friends, family, and the ministers and princes of the Catholic Faith as well. All but ONE bishop took the infamous "Oath of Supremacy". (That one bishop would be St. John Fisher, who's feast we also celebrate today.) More was entirely alone in his decision.

This saint truly knew the virtue of moral courage. St. Thomas More, pray for us.

Within 15 years after the death of Irish Catholic chaplain Fr. Willie Doyle, Catholic Church authorities received over 50,000 letters attesting to his personal holiness----6,000 of which described miracles and healings that members of the faithful attributed to the army chaplain.

Fr. Doyle was killed in the Battle of Passchendaele in WWI, in the act of saving two Anglican soldiers. Now, over one hundred years later, Irish Catholics have launched The Father Willie Doyle Association to further the canonization cause of this heroic priest.

Fr. Doyle dedicated his priesthood in a particular way to atone for the sins of priests. Pick up a copy of To Raise the Fallen, or visit The Father Willie Doyle Association, to learn more about this priest who's story is more relevant than ever.

We have sinned many times, and all sin, even when remitted, demands penance. We have passions to conquer, temptations to combat, and penance is the surest preservative against both one and the other.
