Mid-America Garden is a Bearded Iris Nursery that introduces Tall Bearded, Border Bearded, Miniature Tall Bearded, Intermediate Bearded, Standard Dwarf Bearded, Miniature Dwarf Bearded, and Arilbred introductions by Thomas Johnson, Paul Black, Lynda Miller and Barry Blyth in Salem, Oregon and is on the same location as Sebright Garden which specializes in Hostas, Ferns, and Epimediums.

Parade Of Stars (T.Johnson '24) This video was taken just as it was opening its first flowers of the season in mid May. It is a fun blended combination of colors with great stems. Distinctive!!

Secretive (T. Johnson '24). We have been having a lot of fun exploring the whole spectrum of violet through blue beards on the TB's. Secretive is very showy with its deep violet beards, held on tall well branched stems.

Watching You (T. Johnson '24) Certainly a very distinctive variety that always puts on a great show. The "eye" pattern deep in the heart of the hafts, peers out as if to be watching you and thus the name. Tall and well branched mid season variety

Deceptive Heart (T. Johnson 24). A very wide branched and Muti-budded iris that is certainly proving itself as a parent for nice pinks with darker hafts.

We received some exciting news a couple of weeks ago and have not had a chance to do a post about it. Attention Seeker was the winner of the French iris competition in Paris, France. It is a point score blind judging by an international panel of judges. Attention Seeker also won best branched variety and the variety named Mark My Words placed 6th. I wish I had a photo of the branching on Attention Seeker. It is pretty common for it to have 12 or more buds. Thank you to the French Iris Society for their efforts in growing, evaluating and judging these iris.

Character Study (T. Johnson '23). At the end of the day we really just need iris that are solid garden performers that dazzle each and every year. Character Study is such an iris. Dependably puts on a nice garden display each and every year.

I tried to take quite a few videos of individual varieties during the flowering season. So these videos are all from the last month. The field is now about wound down as far as bloom is concerned. This one is Ready For Dessert (T. Johnson '26)

Catch Phrase (T. Johnson '23). I really like this iris!! It is such a strong grower and reliable performer. What makes it really great is the application of the plicata dotting on the band. It is basically a dotted plicata, not a stitched plicata, giving it a very sharp and clean look. Great stems and buds with great form make it a winning combination.
