Here's an update on where we are at and what's up. Thank all of you for your support and patience.
6/1/26
Well we met with our at home oncologist this morning to go over his Duke results.
Depending on insurance approval and consultation between his doctors in both places the current plan is to start his chemo on 6/8/26.
He has an education appointment this week on Wednesday and the day after his chemo treatment he has to go in to get a blood boosting shot. Then back again in three weeks to repeat the chemo and the shot.
There's a lot of possible side effects but really no way to know which ones that he will face, if any. They tell us that the first few days after his chemo that he will be feeling pretty good due to the extra meds that they give to hopefully help him combat the side effects, by day 5-9 he could be feeling like he's got the flu and really needs to rest, and then about a week before his next treatment he should be feeling ok again, and then it's time to start over. I'm simplifying it greatly I'm sure but y'all get the picture.
We will see how his body reacts since he's not really known for reacting like the textbooks say. ;)
We will be stockpiling lots of easy proteins, smoothies, slushies, and super cold drinks since that seems to be the consensus on what helps the most with the mouth issues, appetite loss, and tummy problems.
He's got an entire army with him and we are both very, very thankful for you all. Thank you and bless you all.
