Salida Sunday snow day update! ❄️

It rained all day yesterday, snowed last night, and that snow is probably going to melt this morning. If you decide to go for a ride and you encounter mud on the trails (which you probably will) TURN AROUND! Go wash those nasty bibs, or l**e your chain, or teach your kids to l**e their chains. It’ll be fun for the whole family!

Swipe for Monarch Mountain update…gonna go out on a limb and say the Crest probably isn’t good to go either. But after last winter, you won’t hear us complaining!

Trail conditions are variable from trail to trail. Weather is variable from minute to minute.

If you encounter a puddle, ride through it (bonus points if you giggle while you do it).

If you encounter mud, turn around and go do something else! Like wash your gloves if they’re as stiff as these 😬 🤘

Autumn riding in CO is a dream! 🍂

The most recent storm blew away a majority of the leaves, but there are still some pockets of gold if you’re willing to look. Trails seem to be in good shape all around, although there was definitely lingering snow on the Crest over the weekend.

Monarch Crest got some snow, y’all! We’ve got our Crest shuttles closed for the weekend as of now. This may not be goodbye forever, though – they could reopen if we see conditions improve. Keep an eye out and feel free to give us a call for up to date trail information.

Cottonwood is still running, though, so if you haven’t ridden that trail in a while, hop on our shuttle!

Mike Franco () who has been our General Manager the past several years, has taken an engineering opportunity and will be leaving Absolute Bikes. Mike has also been the director of the Salida Enduro and V***rTrail125 the past several years. Absolute Bikes is excited to continue that relationship going forward as these events are core to the mountain bike community in Salida. We are having a pizza gathering to wish him continued success this Friday at 11:30am, October 2nd, here at the shop. It is the last SYC (Salida Youth Cycling) of the season so local legend, Kenny Franco, will also be in the house! Please stop by and wish him continued success. It’s V***r Trail 125 week in Salida!

If you’re lining up to ride into the darkness this Saturday night, we’ve got all those last minute items you might need, including layers, tools, tubes, a fresh shipment of NiteRider Bike Lights, plenty of snacks, and last minute words of encouragement.

Leadville post 1/2!

Huge congrats to our longtime shop grom, Henry! on his first ever Leadville 100 MTB finish! Henry finished in 7:22, which put him 126th overall. Pretty dang solid for a first attempt, but we’d expect nothing less for this crusher.

And, another huge congrats to Henry as he leaves for college at Cal Poly SLO today! We’ll miss you around the shop but know you’re gonna have a great time in California. ✌️
