We have been welcoming the Shop Shoppers and their friends. We are learning all about the creativity and quilting fun that is going on all over the state. We learned about Swedish Stars (you know I love anything Swedish!) They are beautiful fabric stars AND the creating couple have volunteered to come and teach a class in the Fall.

We have had several of the “we found the perfect match” in some fabrics for folks this week. It is so exciting for us too! When we have the perfect color. We have enjoyed seeing the couples who are making the Shop Hop an event shared by both of them. I’m sure the ride around our beautiful state is simply the “topping” on the trip!

Hurrah! The parking lot is paved and is simply beautiful – no more tripping hazards! It was a surprise that it happened at this time, but they were so cooperative and finished it quickly; it is a blessing! All in good time for the coming SALE!

We continue to enjoy all our visiting shop hoppers! They are so happy to share quilting ideas and especially the joy they feel in creating their projects. And we love to hear about their favorite stores, and so many of the folks are involved in sewing for others – quilts for our veterans and preemies, pillowcases for all, and special projects for events. Yes, you are all busy sending a bit of love in your sewing to others around you.

Many of you are experiencing the smoke from the Canadian fires. It makes us realize that summer is both beautiful and also fragile. Do take care of yourself and respect the smoke in the air and limit your time outside. So many of the fires are started by lightning with little we can do about it. Isn’t it good that we have such a wonderful hobby of sewing all safely cozy in our homes?

The Shop Hop has been so much fun – we really enjoy meeting so many of you from other parts of the state. It is wonderful to hear about your favorite quilt shop and the amazing things you are creating - both with your sewing machine and with your quilting groups. So much energy and ideas just like in the early days of quilting – when many variations of a pattern can be found!

And now with the manufacturers able to create millions of colors and designs – the only problem we have is deciding which one to choose. I am not surprised that the Centennial colors are the traditional red, white, and blue – but I was hoping we would have an opportunity to bring back some of the old traditional colors and designs of the 1800’s. Alas, we will have to create our own designs!
