New books!
To say I'm excited this week would be an understatement. Just over a year ago or so, the authors of two - TWO - of my favorite series ever announced there would be a third book coming this year. They just so happened to have arrived on the same day!
As a kid, The Talisman series fed into my hope? Desire? Dream? to discover I was born of noble or prophetic birth. Maybe I, too, could discover I was somehow the loan survivor of a pair of doppelgangers with the ability to travel between worlds. I grew out of that fantasy, but The Talisman, now a trilogy, has always held a special place in my heart. I'm ready to go back with Other Worlds Than These.
V. E. Schwab teased a third book in the Villainous series, but it seemed like she either forgot about it or found pleasure in writing other, excellent novels. Finally, though, the conclusion to her super-but-not-at-all-a-hero trilogy is here!
There are a few other recognizable names in this stack, too. I think I said it last week, but this publication season is, um, stacked. Jólabókaflóð is going to be tough this year, deciding which book to read!
(We would like to apologize to Halloween and Thanksgiving for mentioning Christmas, even in passing, before they have had a chance to be enjoyed.)
