New books!!

We missed last week, but we had to include a couple because we noticed a trend. Can you see it?

Sea of Charms is the next book in the wildly popular Spellshop series.

Daggermouth is burning across social media right now. Set in a surveillance state run by masked elites, the novel follows a mercenary after a failed assassination attempt on the son of the president after which, she is forced to marry him. This is the first in a duology by debut author H.M. Wolfe.

Riley Sager is very much a KNOWN quantity, so his latest, The Unknown, is a thriller worth checking out. We have a couple of signed copies too!

Lastly, Adversary to the Villain is the fourth (but not final, there will be one more) in the Assistant to the Villain series and we could not be more excited for this one!

Did you find the trend? They are all very dark/black covers. That's it, we just found that interesting for mid-summer releases. Any way, see you soon!

We're a week away from our biggest sale of the year!

Every year to coincide with Saline Summerfest, we have our biggest sidewalk sale of the year and this year is even more exciting because Summerfest will have "Artist Alley" in the parking lot behind our store! You can check out the sales on hardcovers, paperbacks, and games, then walk right out to see all the artist that our friends at Whitepine Studios have gathered. Hope to see you there!

What We're Reading Wednesday! We've finally righted the ship and got back to Wednesdays.

Our next book club meeting will be August 20th at 7 PM. We'll be reading the first book in the Stone's Throw trilogy by Michigan author Eloise Corvo, Off the Beaten Path.

This is a fun, cozy mystery set in the fictional town of Stone's Throw on Lake Michigan. Full of comedy, warmth, and Michigan vibes, it's hard to go wrong with this one! Oh, did we mention there's a dog named Martin Short? Seriously.

We also have our September book selected and it will be If Cats Disappeared from the World by Genki Kawamura if you're feeling ambitious! We'll announce the date for that one soon!

We are participating in two events this week!

On Wednesday July 22 at 6:30 PM, we'll be joining the Saline District Library for the Michigan Notable Books series highlighting Rob Miller, co-founder of Chicago's storied Bloodshot Records.

Then on Thursday July 23rd at 6:00 PM, we'll be hosting author J J Kochmanski to celebrate the launch of his novel The Side Questers. This is a novel for fans of Legends & Lattes and Dungeon Crawler Carl about two NPCs that break out of their eternal programmed loop in the fictional game Eternity: The Endless Realm.

Both events are free to attend and books will be available for purchase and the authors will be autographing them after the event!

It's time for "What We're Reading" on a day that isn't Wednesday!

Bill - Off the Beaten Path is a cozy mystery by Michigan author Eloise Corvo set in the fictional town of Stone's Throw on Lake Michigan. Maudy, a park ranger, is tasked with helping the local police solve the murder of an out-of-towner found in her park while also trying to keep her park from closing. This is also our Book Club pick for August. Did we mention Maudy has a dog named Martin Short?

Lindsay - Ej*****te Responsibly is a re-examination of the responsibilities surrounding sexual in*******se and pregnancy, while calling out legislation that primarily focuses on women and leaves men off the hook.

Catherine - Yesteryear is a satirical novel following a social media influencer who espouses the virtues of an era gone by, that is until she is transported back to the 1800s. This character study wrapped in a time-travel mystery is one of the hottest books right now!

Madeleine - A Court of Mist and Fury is the second novel in Sarah J Maas' A Court of Thorns and Roses series. Book six comes out in October and book seven drops in January. You can call or email now to get on our pre-order list!

Olivia - That's Not My Name is a novel by Megan Lally about a teen found by police on the side of the road with no recollection of who she is until her father arrives to tell them her name is Mary. This is all happening while Drew is searching for his girlfriend, Lola, who stormed off into the night after a fight and never came back. Now he's desperate to find her, both to make sure she's safe and to avoid the accusations that he may have hurt her. The question is, how much are these two situations connected...if at all?

Abby - The Last Unicorn is considered one of the "best fantasy novels ever." First published in 1968, Peter S. Beagle's novel follows the last unicorn as she leaves the safety of her enchanted forest to find the rest of her kind with the help of Schmedrick the Magician and Molly Grue.
