Fun fact - a favorite thing we do in the bookstore every year for a small but mighty crew is the annual Find Waldo Celebration. ("It is 💯 % my favorite thing we do" - Alissa, owner)

This year, 7 kids - many who have shopped and searched for Waldo with us for years - anyway, 7 kids said they learned to read this summer. And now, we have several more kids who want to learn to ride their new bikes before the end of summer.

Attention friends of our dearest Hazelnut: We met her sister from another mister, Precious, today at the Davie County Animal Shelter - and sweet Precious completely lives up to her name!

Sadly, many of you know Hazelnut is a touch territorial and this visit was a short one with no changes to our nuclear family.

Photos of their meeting in the comments - Precious is very timid (she is only 7 months old - still a puppy), and ideally would enjoy a quieter family with no other pets. She is super sweet - and if you bring her in after adopting her, we will give you loads of free stuff!!!

The Salisbury Symphony is hiring a part-time Manager of Education & Community Engagement!

We’re looking for an organized program-builder and community connector to lead our education programs — including After School Strings, After Work Strings, Youth Orchestra, Young People’s Concerts, and SSO Summer Camp — and to deepen our partnerships with schools, families, and community organizations across Rowan County.

Part-time, approx. 9 hours/week (about 470 hours per season)

Hourly W-2 position at $18.00/hour

Works closely with the Executive Director and Music Director.

Focus on education programs, community events, access, and audience development

Ideal for someone with experience in education, community engagement, program coordination, or nonprofit administration, and a passion for classical music’s role in our community.

Find Waldo Local starts tomorrow and runs throughout July! Swing by downtown Salisbury, grab a passport at a participating shop, and join in our hunt!

Those who receive 20 or more stamps can attend our grand CELEBRATION in the bookstore on August 1 at 11am - tons of raffle prizes and food from all our participating shops will be available to you for playing along!
