St Luke Heritage Gardens This page, is dedicated to the restoration of ST Luke African American Methodist Episcopal AME Church in Salisbury, Missouri.

A 1860s church is buried under us, our sister church is in Glasgow Missouri and we sprung the 2nd baptist in Salisbury. Welcome to St Luke Heritage Gardens, we are a property consisted of St Luke AME church and its parsonage, both built in the Victorian era 1890s. St Luke sits ontop of a Union Church and the parsonage is built with the material left from Union Church. A Union church was a mix of religions that worshiped under one roof, it was established on the estate of one of the first settlers name Sergeant Samual Williams which sat in Buffalo Lick Township around 1812. We are all that is left of his estate, better known as the slave quarters. We also spawned the Second Baptist church in Salisbury, and our Sister church was Campbell Chapel in Glasgow as well. Our project and our history take years to restore, but since 2016 we've been slowly building back what was once rotting away. Welp, the ficus are in...still about another dozen or two plants to bring in but these are the monsters....I'll try to tie them up n get a little bit more room for the other plants...tossed in a before when I saved them if no one remembers. I've had them like 7 years now...sure they are 30-50 years old..

It is so cool! There are hundreds if not thousands of dragonflies around the property. I don't lmow what's going on but its nuts! Maybe its the mosquito buffet 🤔 or something and they're bringing birds too

Sold an item to Universal Studios for a movie prop today. You'll love the movie it will be used in, I guess they are doing a biopic of the life of snopp dogg called Snoop and this will be used in it...can't wait to see it in the movie..

Donation day, this time I went to Randolph County Helping Hands

Hopefully there is good stuff in there that they can put out for the community. I usually just go to goodwill but I wanted to find something that was more into helping the community. This is why I like to take things to Habitat for Humanity but omg the fuel prices at the moment. They will probably be my go to place for donations now that I figured out where they are.

I also had the energy to hang the laundry room cabinets as well today. Still very nice cabinet and I am still shocked to...

Well stained the back deck on the church, I think I put to much stain on it? Its supposed to be semi transparent but it covers the grain...so who knows how long it will last.

I also didn't really want to do gray but? I got a 330$ bucket of Cabot stain for 30$...so it became gray...though I only used a third of it, figured with 5gals there will be enough for the rails etc when its time.

Its not tacky but glossy in some spots, maybe one day I'll get the hang of staining a deck.

I still have a lot more deck work to do but this will protect it for winter and we'll see how long it will hold up..

Another night bloomer, bloomed last night!

I never thought my Cuddle Cactus aka Cereus Jamacaru would set flower! I assumed it would need to get monstrous to set flower and would never sprout a flower in a container...I was wrong!

I've had it since it was about 12" tall and a clearance plant from walmart, maybe 4? years and it has really grown, about 6-7ft..

The flower was huge! I hear, they set fruit and it is a tasty fruit...I don't know if it got pollinated by anything last night but will be neat to see if it sets a fruit.

Got the laundry room painted. It's a deep red color, like blood red, hard to pick it up on the camera. I've got the pain...

Got the laundry room painted. It's a deep red color, like blood red, hard to pick it up on the camera.

I've got the painting done, so now I can get working back on trim work and hang the cabinets. The last photo is the area where the cabinets will go hints to why the wall is funky looking.

That door, is the original back door from the church, it was too damaged to reuse on the back of the church so it became the bathroom door.

Tomorrow I may hang cabinets and stain the church deck, since we'll be in the 99's tomorrow...

If you guys don't have a giant thistle out side to watch the butterflies, well? They LOVVVEEE watermelon. I put a big slice out of one that grew in the yard and it's been a non stop buffet for a few days.

These photos shows I believe a Hackberry Emperor butterfly and a Red-spotted Purple butterfly that I can tell.
