📦 MOVING UPDATE 📦

Well, it looks like moving day came a little sooner than we expected!

We had originally planned to remain open at our current location a little longer while we continued working on the new store. However, our address change with ATF was approved much faster than we anticipated, which has forced our hand a little and means we need to close the current location sooner than we had planned.

Effective Wednesday, September 23rd, our current location will be closed while we complete the move and get the new store ready to open.

The good news is that this gives us some extra time to focus entirely on finishing the new space, moving everything over, and getting operational again as quickly as possible.

We're planning a soft opening on Monday, October 5th!

📍 308 N Salisbury Ave.
Granite Quarry, NC 28146

This will be a true soft opening. There will probably still be a few projects and finishing touches happening around the store, but we'll be open and ready to get back to business.

If you currently have a fi***rm, transfer, or gunsmithing work with us, we're still here. If you need us while the storefront is closed, reach out and we'll work with you during the transition.

We're also working with the folks at Granite Shoppes on a much bigger Grand Reopening event later on. We'll have more details on that as we get closer!

We've got a busy couple of weeks ahead of us, but we're excited to finally be making the move. We appreciate everyone's patience and support while we get everything finished.

We'll see you in Granite Quarry!

25 years ago today everything changed.

I was in 7th grade and first heard about it at lunch. A friend said someone had flown a plane into a building in New York. I remember thinking, how stupid could someone be that they couldn't see a huge building and somehow flew into it? I assumed it was a small plane. There was no way a commercial airliner could do that. There had to be things in place to prevent something like that.

After lunch I had Social Studies. The teacher was an older lady who was usually pretty grouchy and strict, but that day she was different. She was quiet, almost in shock. A TV had been wheeled into the classroom and we watched everything replay over and over as the news crews tried to explain what had happened.

I don't really remember exactly how I felt. I think it was some combination of shock, awe, sadness, and not fully understanding the gravity of what I was watching. I was 12 years old. I knew something terrible had happened, but I didn't understand how much that day was going to change everything.

As I got older, I started to understand more about what I had actually watched that day. The firefighters and first responders were a big part of that. I grew up with firefighters in my family and had already looked up to them, but I think what I saw on 9/11 played a part in me eventually serving with a volunteer fire department for several years.

25 years later, I think that day hits me harder than it did then. Maybe it's age, having a family of my own, or simply understanding the world differently. I think about all the people who went to work that morning expecting it to be just another Tuesday and never came home. I think about their families and how, while the rest of us eventually went back to our lives, theirs would never be the same.

There really was a world before September 11th and a world after it. I was just old enough to truly remember both.

Never forget.

📢 WE'RE MOVING!

Tree of Liberty Defense is officially relocating to Granite Shoppes in Granite Quarry!

We'll be working on the new store over the next several weeks with plans to be completely moved out of Downtown Salisbury by the end of September.

We're excited for more space, easier access and parking, and a better environment to continue growing our business.

But we'd be lying if we said this move was only about growth.

After operating a business in Downtown Salisbury, I've seen firsthand the harassment, threats, trespassing, crime, parking and access problems, and other issues that affect not only us, but other downtown businesses as well. I've watched businesses raise legitimate concerns only to feel ignored, while a small circle downtown seems to receive a very different level of support and influence.

That's not how you build a strong small business community.

I've tried to work through the proper channels. Unfortunately, my experience has left me with little confidence that these problems are being taken seriously enough to actually resolve them.

Because of that, I cannot recommend Downtown Salisbury to someone looking to open a small business today.

There are still great businesses and great people downtown, and we sincerely thank them for their friendship and wish them success. For us, though, it's time to move on — and we're genuinely excited about what's next.

More details coming soon.

Here's a great update from Silencer Shop on the situation.

That being said, we are not a Silencer Shop Dealer. I was not a fan of how they nickel and dimed dealers to use their kiosks. So where does that leave us?

Right now North Carolina is one of 15 states that still requires a form 4 because it is written into our state laws. Until that changes or we get a clear directive from the ATF, NFA sales in NC will stay the same.

We'll continue to follow this closely and keep you updated as we learn more.

This is HUGE!! A big win for the second amendment!

What does this mean for everyone? Right now, nothing. The time for the stay has run out. This means those mentioned in the lawsuit are affected. Technically, I think ATF and DOJ still have 60 days to file an appeal. So until we as dealers get further directive from the ATF nothing changes... for now.

We'll keep everyone posted!

Congressman Andrew Clyde has "received confirmation from the Trump Administration that the DOJ will NOT appeal our historic court victory against the NFA."

Thank you, President Trump, for restoring our Second Amendment rights and gutting the National Fi****ms Act!

Trust me, I'm keeping an eye on it all. We'll let you know what happens, what changes, and when as soon as we know. ...
