🌱 LOCAL FARMER SPOTLIGHT: Yousif & Hawaa with New Roots SLC

We’re proud to carry produce from Yousif and Hawaa, a local farming power couple here in Utah.

Yousif and Hawaa are growing on just under two acres of land. They are originally from Sudan and have been in the United States since 2015. This will be their 8th year farming with New Roots after spending a season as community gardeners in 2018. Work with Yousif long enough, and you might catch him pocketing grasshoppers and other garden treasures to take home for his young children. Talk with Hawaa long enough and she will share all the recipes she can think of, and all the health benefits of each and every one of the veggies they grow on their land.

You can find their produce right here at the Co-op! Local products help keep money in our community, support the farmers and makers who grow and produce our food, and give you a chance to know where your food comes from. When you shop local at the Co-op, you’re helping build a stronger, more connected local food system.
