A quick lap on the SI 152 thanks to a solid late-season storm here in Utah.

The SI is another component in our ten-brand pow surf comparison we’re working on. The Asmos are not cheap but the design and construction are top notch and every time I jump on one I feel instantly at home. knows what he’s doing; these things are dialed.

Maiden voyage on the Jedeye prototype from and thanks to a classic late-season Utah storm last week!

The Jedeye comes from decades of product testing and shaping experience from JG and Neto. It’s hand shaped in USA and shares more in common with surf board construction than snowboard, using a glass wrapped foam core and a base like a boat hull instead of a plastic base material. First thing you notice is that it is crazy light. (Seriously so light!) It has a bit of flex built in, which most pow surfs really don’t. Float is excellent and it’s extremely easy to turn. There are other boards that feel more aggressive, but despite being lighter and softer and maybe more on the cruisy side, it gives plenty of confidence and responds when you push it.

Those are my initial thoughts as a very mediocre surfer, anyway! Thanks JG. Stoked for more.

Maiden voyage on the Goblin 152. I didn’t have much time and despite the massive storm I managed to find some variable conditions 🙄, but at first glance, this is one of the more aggressive pow surfs I’ve ridden. Feels like it wants to go fast and big. The rails definitely provide some grip and where you stand makes a big difference in how it handles. I liked it best when I moved my stance forward and weighted the front foot more. I noticed a particular confidence in long toe side turns, where I often feel most exposed on a pow surfs. Grip pad is awesome, your feet don’t go anywhere and I love being so close to the board. Mind you, these are just first impressions from a very mediocre surfer. More to come.
