My name is Caitlyn and I started this shop as part of my dream to share beautiful handmade items with the world. The name Alabaster and Stone came about during my undergraduate degree in architecture when I was learning about different methods and materials. Alabaster always stuck out to me since it is the stone of art par excellence, a much-appreciated resource for sculptors and architects who, f

rom antiquity until these days, have been able to take advantage of its characteristic features, above all the ease with which it can be worked and polished and its translucency, a property as rare among rocks as effective in magnifying their natural beauty. To sum it all up, alabaster reflects the artisan quality of what I create and as well as my architecture background. I dabble in everything from painting and photography, to plants and pottery (and I love alliterations!) and never let my creativity stand still.

I’ve had to take a break from tufting for a while now and can’t wait to get back into it. I’ve been trying to recover from a possible injury called thoracic outlet syndrome where my nerves were super compressed and my arms go numb/ tingly for days at a time. That pain combined with my house being a renovation staging zone, I haven’t tufted in what seems like forever!

In the meantime if you want to see my work out in the wild, go to the in SLC and 👀 this mirror that Amanda had such a cool vision for! I’m planning more larger work like this once I get back into the swing of things 💪🏻
