I thought it’d be fun to share the process on this guy. It’s a little graphic… I started out by slicing open its abdomen and filled it as much as I could with 1 part borax 1 part pickling salt, as this helps expedite the mummification process. I then pinned its limbs into the position I wanted, & placed it into a small tub filled with the aforementioned mixture for about a month (note that various specimens take varying amounts of time, this one went by quickly because it was so small). Once it was ready, I then had to carefully get all the borax and salt off of the specimen, using a toothpick and a dry paint brush. I wasn’t a fan of how much the color had faded during this process, so I applied a small bit of modge podge spray to make it more vibrant.
