Another HUMMINGBIRD SEASON comes to a close. Did you know that hummingbirds must store up energy to make the flight south? They will in fact nearly DOUBLE THEIR WEIGHT IN FAT for the trip. And THEY’LL LEAVE FOR THAT TRIP AT NIGHT, which explains why in fall hummingbirds seem to disappear overnight. NOTE: Some straggling hummingbirds show up after the majority have left. Help those stragglers by LEAVING YOUR FEEDER(S) UP UNTIL YOU HAVEN’T SEEN ANY HUMMINGBIRDS FOR A FEW WEEKS.
