Can you name these parts of the violin? (You might not know a few of these!)
‼️Answers below! 👇‼️
1 - The Bridge
The bridge is one of the most important parts of the violin beside the violin itself. It holds up the strings and transfers vibration to the body to produce the sound you know and love! A well carved bridge is vital to your sound, and even more important for the playability of your instrument.
2 - Purfling
Purfling is the beautiful inlaid decoration you’ll find on the edge of most violins, violas, cellos, and basses. While being decorative, it also serves a practical purpose by stopping cracks on the top before they can stretch along its surface, helping violins survive for centuries.
3 - The Saddle
The saddle is a little known, often hidden, but extremely important part of the violin. It’s typically carved out of ebony, holding and anchoring the tailgut, which connects to the tailpiece of the instrument.
