Something else you should know about Momo's Brand-Used Thriftique. I Starlin, Momo's daughter, am a Christian and believe in God's leading. That being said Momo's shop started from a small post on Facebook about a place for rent at a reasonable price. Curious as I am I contacted the person and was invited to an open house of the building the space was in. He asked what I had in mind? And out popped thrift shop. Now mind you I had never entertained the idea of a thrift shop. I sent in my proposal at his request and an agreement was made. God completely took over guiding me every step of the way. It took on a life of it's own all with God's direction. Everything from the shop name, business license, racks, hangers, donations and every little detail in between right down to the price tags. So when people asked me what made you open a thrift shop? I reply God did it. He's the boss and I am his employee. And with my God given gifts of organization, merchandising and a sprinkle of OCD "Momo's Brand-Used Thriftique" came to fruition. It's a place where God's love is and judgment is not. The shop name is in tribute to my wonderful mom Yvonne Leon whom my kids called Momo.

Something else you should know about Momo. She was the 4th child born after two brothers and one sister.
Her family was extremely poor and there wasn't enough to have another mouth to feed. So Momo was sent to live with a family friend they called Aunt Gertrude. She had never married or had any children of her own but she was a piano teacher. As a result Momo became a wonderful pianist and later went on to play in churches and anywhere she could find a piano. She loved music so much she added to her talents the organ, harp, accordion, harmonica and anything else she could find. Eventually, when circumstances improved with her family she was reunited and lived back in the caboose at the end of the train tracks.

Please be considerate when posting about those who due to circumstances have been forced to live in their vehicle. I talk to these people and hear what they are dealing with. No one in their right mind chooses to live like this. Post about them being a nuisance is demeaning when all they are trying to do is survive. Granted there are those that can be a problem. Instead of judging and condemning them treat them as you would like to be treated if you were in their shoes.

As many of you know, my husband was recently involved in a serious car accident. We are incredibly thankful he’s alive and recovering. With this and a new baby arriving soon, this isn’t the season we expected.
